I was hired as a corporate trainer by a company in Newark, NJ that provides services to United Airlines. As a [new] trainer I was supposed to undergo a 3 month training program in order to learn the job of how to clean airplanes so that I could teach it to new workers at the airport. I was assigned to "follow" another trainer who had been with the company for 5 years. She was a very nice co-worker & we hit it off immediately. I reported to work every day - usually 15 minutes early, dressed professionally, I took notes, asked questions & was very attentive. I was on my best workplace behavior. Nine (9) days into my training I was called in by my supervisor & told that I was being terminated because I was "not living up to my expectations". He said he felt I should be doing more "training". Rather than refute his claim - I simply said "Ok" & walked out. I consider that termination as a blessing in disguise since he showed me what type of boss he would've been. It was totally unreasonable for him to expect me to teach what I didn't know & was in the process of learning myself. During my short term at the job he never called me in to discuss my performance. He barely said anything to me at all during those 9 days. One day I said good morning to him & he retorted, "I already spoke to you once in the parking lot". Him saying that spoke volumes about his personality. He did me a favor by terminating me because based on his management style - I feel he would have been a difficult manager which is indicative of his totally unreasonable expectation that I should have been teaching a class that I was still in the process of learning myself after only 9 days.
