I would ask the manager for a raise
They pay accordingly
No, the pay versus the hours and the amount of work required of you is very low. Also, your work/life balance is an issue.

Well if it's a Saturday, the store will be trashed, you won't get away from the register to recover or a bathroom break till almost closing. The freight is still on U_boats cause you couldn't get it done. The DM will stop by and bitch cause it's not all out. And at The same time Truck will show up, so there's more Rotainers clogging the Isles but a customer comes in with a return and you have to do it cause your key holder worked her hours In the meantime 5he Truck Driver can't finish unloading cause hes on downtime and the DM leaves you a list of how you must have all Xmas out and it's still September
In iuka ms.it is always clean and nice
#dollargeneral they treat us like there family
It depends on your position, facility type, location, etc. if you are at a regular store and not the store manager, be prepared to make minimum wage or close and to be understaffed. It’s in their work model to understaff every store to the point where it basically up to the store manager to complete the restocking. Also depends on your coworkers and the manager(s), I have seen some locations that thrived on the short staffed model. Market stores may pay similar but less staffing/stocking issues. I’ve heard the warehouse is actually quite pleasant.

Alanna Nevayaktewa, connect and follow Alanna here - #UPS employee Alanna still knows how to unwind after a hard day at work. Recently members asked, Alanna, what's your comfort food after work?

Patrick Carter, connect and follow Patrick here - Patrick just landed a new seasonal job with #ups and is grateful but he also has a greater vision for his career, see Found a Seasonal Job!
“I have been very aggressive in my job search lately and came across a seasonal job with UPS. I decided to file my disability since I had so many issues so this should hold me down until that goes through. I'm not giving up my dream of opening Sober Living Houses, but I definitely have to put it on the back burner in order to provide for my loved ones.”
Chico Range, connect and follow Chico here - another member recently asked Chico, What skills do I need to get hired as a Cook? Well, here’s what he had to say about that…
“If you can follow recipes pay attention to detail and have a passion for cooking. Willing to learn to know your seasoning, herbs, and spices. I’ve been a Chef now for 27yrs just have a love for food there’s a cook in everyone 🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿”
Darryl Faine, connect and follow Darryl here - Frustrated with your job search? Losing hope? Darryl has an encouraging message to share with you, see A little advice: Diligence, Patience, and Faith and you'll get the job
“As someone once told me "I chose the purpose of pay" and that's what I've decided to do. I am now employed. The key is just to be a good person and not be a follower of trends just to fit in with the crowd because the crowd usually is not thinking smart. Go back to the good old principles of knowing what the company wants and knowing what you have to offer and how to present yourself as the only good choice for that company. Know your assets and be confident in them… Remember to keep the faith and put in some sincere effort to secure the job that you really want.”
Jenny Potter, follow Jenny here - Want to know what the team structure is like at #dollargeneral? Connect with Jenny for an insider perspective…
“Depends greatly on the team leader. And their management style. You have great ones and not-so-great ones but the company as a whole prefers the team atmosphere to be that of kindness, helpfulness, and corroboration.”
Please join us in extending warm and heartfelt Congratulations to all the JCOW Winners this week for their continued member support and encouragement within this community. Thank you

Dollar General is definitely not a good career move! Severely overworked and way too underpaid
All you have to do is walk into a DG and see boxes & items blocking the aisles, the store is so unorganized. They don't have enough staff to put their products on the shelf, organize everything and make sure that their aisles are clear. It says alot.
Because it's all our favorite store.
Experience. Easy to get on & good Experience. Other than that. Ive worked at DG, heavy workload for a 2 person operated store. No discounts, low pay, doesnt treat employees well.
My no English a little Ingles
