San Diego is HIRING!!

As the number of COVID-19 cases drops, the number of California businesses reopening is increasing as are the number of jobs.

However, these employers are having a tough time hiring!

There's a lower response to hiring ads, lower turnouts for interviews; it's an ongoing challenge.

The Sea Venture Beach Hotel mentioned in an article they're currently hiring for all departments, from housekeeping to the front desk, to the restaurant.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there were many layoffs and furloughs and it has been difficult to hire back staff.

If you were in San Diego would YOU be ready to go back to work?

Disneyland is reopening and workers are EXCITED!!

It’s been more than a year since the Disneyland resort’s three hotels and two theme parks closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Shevlin can think of little else but resuming her old job at the Anaheim resort.

Her yearning is not just about the steady paycheck. “What I miss the most is the human contact,” said the 32-year Disneyland veteran, who lives alone with her cat. “I’m ready to put on my uniform.”

With Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park set to open Friday, Disney employees who have been rehired and those who are waiting to return to the House of Mouse say they’re eager to reunite with co-workers and will be relieved to be added back to the Disney payroll.

“My work is what always keeps me going,” said Saturnino Beltran, a 22-year Disneyland veteran, who recently returned to his job at the Disneyland Central Bakery, where the resort’s baked goods are made.

“I do think it is now safe for workers to return to the parks,” said Austin Lynch, a union organizer at Unite Here Local 11, which represents hotel and food service workers at the resort.

That’s not how Lynch and many Disney workers felt last June when Disney announced plans to reopen amid a rise in coronavirus cases.

California kept the parks closed until this spring.

Many returning workers say they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and those who have already started to work at the parks say the staffers are taking the safety rules seriously.

More workers will be hired once state health guidelines allow the parks to increase attendance, Disney representatives say.

Would you be ready to go back to OR work at a large theme park?

Feel good Friday: Retired HR professional fostered over 81 infants

I read this amazingly sweet article and wanted to share it with you all! Linda Owens, from #Haywood, California, has fostered 81 infants over the past 34 years, providing them with love, comfort, and a safe place to stay. What an inspiring read just a few days before #MothersDay! 💕

She is called several times a year to pick up newborns who cannot live with their birth mothers by court order. Many of the babies were exposed to drugs in the womb and stay with Owens until a judge rules they can be reunited with their parents or they are adopted, she said.

What's an inspiring story you've heard lately? Share below!

San Francisco is eligible to join the "yellow tier" of reopening

#SanFrancisco officials have announced that they are eligible to move businesses into the yellow tier this week, meaning:

  • Gyms can increase capacity from 25% to 50%. They can also reopen saunas, spas and steam rooms.
  • Wineries, breweries and distilleries can boost indoor capacity to 50% or 200 people, whichever number is fewer.
  • Bars that don't serve food can reopen indoors at 25% capacity. Group sizes will be limited to eight per table. In the orange tier, they were only allowed to reopen outdoors.
  • Indoor restaurants are no longer required to limit parties to three households. Up to eight diners are allowed per table.
  • Live performances like concerts and plays can also increase audience capacity to 67% outdoors. At indoor performance venues, capacity can expand to 50%.
  • Museums, zoos and aquariums no longer have a 50% capacity limit. They still need to follow COVID-19 safety precautions like mandatory face coverings.
  • Family entertainment centers like arcades, ice skating, roller skating, and indoor playgrounds can boost capacity to 50%.
  • Theme parks can increase capacity from 25% to 35%.

Hours and pay

Ive been interested in working at Amazon since they announced the wage increases and I think that it can be a good chance to work for a known company and get my feet in the door. Does anyone know what the hours are like? I read somewhere there you can pick them but its a first come first serve.. So what happens if you arent there to get the ones you want or need? Would really appreciate some advice/insight from someone who has worked there or knows! thanks
