Interesting Interview Question
I was talking with a coworker yesterday about her current job search. She's looking for better pay, more consistent schedule and the opportunity to train for management opportunities but thinks she's too young to pursue it at her age. She interviewed with a recruiter who told her he was impressed with her well built resume and liked her cover letter but felt she could offer more insight into her thought process when it came to describing her work style and career goals and how she planned to attain them.
The specific question he asked her was: "What is the one character trait that you most dislike about yourself and why that particular trait? How does it serve or not serve your needs and what have you personally done to address how it affects you and your ability to perform at your best while pursuing your career goals?"
Has an interviewer ever asked you this? How did or how would you answer this question? Do you feel it's too personal a question to be asked and do you believe it might affect your chances of being hired or do you think the interviewer would appreciate your transparency?"
