My trainer and I were set to the dessert station during a big event on my first day and toward the end, this cute little boy comes up to the dessert table. Since he's a little smaller than the table my trainer asks if he needs help getting something and he starts talking about how he'd get a sugar crash. Behind the little boy was an older gentleman who chimed in with "You know how to not get a sugar crash?" curious, of course, the boy turned to him and asked, "No, What?" The gentleman leaned in slightly and said with a big grin "Just don't stop. Keep eating!" The boy smiled with one of those 'why didn't I think of that?' looks and ran back to his table with his parents while the man turned to us and said "I think that'll end well." before heading back to his own table as well. #Happiness #Cute #SkamaniaLodge #Lovedit
As I travel on this journey of self-realization, I understand now that boundaries and understanding is important. I always wondered why I could meditate and feel great in the morning. Then when I arrive to work my co workers are greeted with a smile and smiles and greetings are returned. As I sit down at the desk. I begin to open my outlook. As I look at the calendar to see what I would have to do for the day, I notice that there are numerous emails from my supervisor. “When you step outside you have to notify me when you leave and when you come back”, clock in and clock out at lunch, text me when you do a home visit before and after, when I tell you to do something everything else you are working on is voided, If you are going to be late text me after 8:30am to let me know, when I email you I need an immediate response etc….” distress My energy begins to plummet. My thoughts become tinted with a sense of distaste. I wonder about the quality of life and my purpose. The main job location got flooded due to the previous big rain storms in New York. We had to evacuate because a few co workers called the Department of health. All necessary contact information for my clients as well as things that I was working on was left at that site. Now we were moved to a site that takes me 2 ½ hours to get to versus the hour and half. Yet, Supervisor states: “You are coming in late you will not get paid for a full day, you are not completing your tasks, you cannot get the folders from the other office, I cannot obtain that information for you, you cannot take the job laptop home to work from home, etc…… I took today off. I meditated for 1 hour and feel great! Today is about change and action! I am not sure I will give them a 2 week notice when I do get another gig. I have been speaking to the Universe and now I understand that where I am at, is not where I belong. Everyone has had a job they didn't like at least once or twice. If you ask 10 people if they like their job, more than half would say they didn't. So I ask, if you don't like your job, how can you work and do it well? We all need money and in order to get it, this means we are doing something we don't like doing and therefore are unhappy.
Some people can afford to quit their jobs, I know I've done it. I was unhappy with my boss who was screwing me around with my hours. He made me felt like he didn't value my time or myself as an employee. So I quit, used my money in savings to get by a couple of months and found something else.
So what if you are one of the majority of people who need work? Day after day, often doing something you don't love doing? You can't afford to quit, and you may not even know what you want to do and what will really make you happy and satisfied.
If you find yourself in this situation, there are a few thing you can do to bring happiness and satisfaction into your life.
You can decide to excel in your job and do everything to get promoted. (Focusing on your mind in your job in this way can make it easier to bear it, and who knows, you might start liking it)
Wake up early and meditate or exercise for 20-30 minutes before heading to work
You continue working but at the same time, find time to learn a new skill.
Read inspiring quotes that will keep you inspired and make you feel better about your workday.
Find something you love doing in your free time. This will be the highlight of your day and something to look forward to.
If you can take breaks at work - exercise or take a walk.
Try to do the same work in a different way - if possible, change your routine.
If you really want to change your life, continue working but use creative visualization and affirmations. I have found that these are great mental tools that can change your life.
Learn to change your attitude toward your work and toward the people who work with you. This isn't easy but if you make the decision, you will eventually get results. Resentment and unhappiness hurts your health and is unnecessary. With a change of attitude, you will feel better and stop hating or resenting your job.
These are just a few things I've done and that you can do when you don't like your job. I hope they help you, or at least open your mind to other ways or things that you can do.
Although the lack of work can place us in a survival mentality, having clear defined goals that don't revolve around just "making ends meet" can change your life results.
Action step: Push your goal out a bit and aim higher. If you have an income goal, double it, if you have a time frame to finish something, cut the time down. If your goal is point B shot for point C.
We can't reach goals we don't have and you lose nothing by changing your target as long as you are still taking daily action, but you do gives yourself the chance for more!
Push your goals out today as it might help you realize the mental blocks that stop you from even contemplating a better existence.
