I'm telling you the truth...(Must Read Relentlessly.)
Someone once said that...
"When people choose to be unhappy, sometimes you have to let them be. Because the more you struggle to bring them to shore, the further they carry you out to sea."
Don't let this happen to you. Be responsible for your happiness, and stay away from the storms of life that are NOT assigned to you.

All else being equal, should veterans be given a preference over non-veterans when being considered for a job?

I would say yes.. conditionally. Only if the applicants were equal in most other areas. It should only be used as one factor among many. What upsets me the most is when the subject comes up of being a "protected" veteran I proudly served, and I do not mind if I have to answer "I am not a protected veteran" but sometimes the only other answer to offer is "I am not a veteran".. That's when I will refuse to answer because I will not DENY that I served.

TOP 4 MISTAKES- JOB MARKET! No. 2. Absorbing Other People's Opinions About You. [IBYC]
I'm telling you the truth...(Must Read Before 11pm.)
The number two(2), mistake we make in the job market is:
ABSORBING OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS ABOUT YOU.
I'm sure you'll agree that, perhaps, more than 95% of the time we're absorbing the clean and/or unclean opinions of others through ...
- Words of uncensored mouths.
- Randomly sight-seeing events.
- Family chit-chats and chatters.
- Friendships, foes and fumbles.
- Television hearsays and media.
Like a wet soapy sponge, when we absorb the values, views, and obscured visions of others, this dampens our dreams.
Find value in yourself are, and your purpose in life. Then, everything else will eventually fall-in-place for you.

GREATNESS IS BENEATH YOUR WINGS! Spread Your Wings. [IBYC]
I'm telling you the truth...(Read Without Failure.)
Sometimes, we can miss golden opportunities in life because didn't settle down to simply read.
Pretty please, don't let this happen to YOU!
The Steve Miller Band is an American rock band formed in 1966 in San Francisco, California. In 1976, they had a phenomenal hit song that spanned the heights of the globe without limits.
The song is named..."FLY LIKE AN EAGLE"
In the beginning of the song Steve Miller (the lead vocals for the band) narrates a set of words with enthusiasm, encouragement, agility and power that was truly ahead of his time, during the 70s. He said...
"Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future..."
I believe one of the hidden message behind his song is telling YOU to...
- Don't let time slip through your wings of faith, lift higher.
- Don't allow opportunities to pass you by, from lack of hope.
- Don't accept windfalls, when you can spread your wings and fly.
- Don't permit others to determine your path, you choose it wisely.
Listen carefully, the "Aire of Greatness" is beneath your wings. If you spread your wings and just try, you'll reach new heights and levels in life you couldn't perceive.
Please, spread your wings and fly. You greatness inside of YOU!

What are you doing for Independence Day?

I stayed at home alone.

Fighting For Independance! Look Around?
As a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, I can honestly say that I did not get jobs that I was definitely qualified for because I am a veteran. There is a misnomer that military men are dangerous and we all suffer from PTSD. I have found that some recruiters will not even talk with a candidate once learn he is a veteran. While none of us joined the military to get free stuff or to go to the head of the line, there shouldn't be a stigma that we all are crazy somehow. When you tell a company that veterans should be given privileges over civilians it only causes resentment and stereotyping. If the veteran is more qualified than the other candidates, then base the hiring decision on that and not his military service because what would happen if the veteran got hired because he was a veteran but couldn't do the job. What should the company do then? Just hire based on qualifications and experience not on military status or race or anything that doesn't pertains to performance of the job itself. Things may be better.
