I have over 15 years of experience as a Medical Education Researcher, to help improve communication between physicians and patients. I traveled nationwide to hospitals and practices, conducting recorded interviews with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals. Some of these studies were very sensitive topics, HIV/Aids, spinal cord injury, erectile dysfunction, opiod addiction, etc... I learned so much about communicating with people from all walks of life in various scenarios, and really loved the work! I stopped traveling with the onset of CoVid. For the last twelve months, I have navigated through my husband's very complex health issues and we are finally nearing the end of cancer treatment. I am extremely excited to get back to work after the first of the year. I live in FL, and am seeking a part time remote role to start and may be open to full time in the future. I just know that my journey thus far, has prepared me extremely well to serve my purpose as a patient advocate. I am also studying to sit for the Board Certified Patient Advocate exam in March. I see lots of job ads for full time, but does anyone know of any companies that offer part time, remote opportunities in this field? Getting the certificate should help a lot. Credentials do hold weight. Search for full-time and part-time jobs for this work. If you get a serious response, You can always say that your ideal position is part-time/remote. You can discuss that before or during the first interview. If they like you, they might be open to it. Well for me it's that the jobs require being in other parts of the country, OK I get it that what they mean by that is that these no-background-check-required companies have moved to the more "business friendly" states and they have decided to refuse to hire anyone who is still in California or Connecticut precisely for the reason they left those states. I think that if I'm really working "remotely" then it shouldn't matter if I'm on Krypton or Pluto but THEY see it as that they have to abide by the tax and etc, laws of whatever state I'm residing in, so there's that disagreement. Problem is that every industry around where I physically reside, background-checks up the wazoo. I've googled plenty of times "why remote hiring companies won't hire you if you live in Connecticut or California" so I know why it just sucks and will probably keep me unemployed for the rest of what's left of my life.
