#ConfirmedScam #ScamAlert

American Income Life Insurance Company will not contact you with an email domain of "applytojob(dot)com"

I was contacted about an interview with this legitimate company by a scam artist posing to be from their facility. Upon calling the company, this person could not be verified as an employee and the email domain was not a match.

If you are looking for a job with American Income, please be sure that to go to their website: https://lnkd.in/d4wie8Zu and apply directly there.

Any incoming emails from AIL will have the domain "AILlife.com "

As always, if you are the victim of a scam or believe you have encountered a scam artist, please report it to ReportFraud.ftc.gov/#/ and notify the company they are posing as.

A form rejection email is often not an accurate depiction of why you were not offered the job. Here are some other (very valid) reasons why you may not have received an offer, despite what you were told.

  • Hiring Freeze
  • Always Meant for an Internal Employee
  • Company is Afraid to Pull the Trigger
  • Found Someone Cheaper
  • Company Decided to Delay the Hire
  • Job Went to the Boss’s Niece
  • Company is Restructuring

Keep this in mind the next time you’re told “you weren’t a fit for our needs” or “we decided on a candidate with more experience” or not told a thing.

The ACTUAL reason could have absolutely nothing to do with you.

Of course, if this becomes a pattern, it’s possible your interviewing skills simply need some polishing. That’s easy enough to correct. I work with job seekers all the time in this area.

Bottom line: If a company decides not to move on with you (or never gives you any type of response), realize it’s their loss and continue to progress forward with your job search.

If this is you, understand that this is a normal and actually a healthy place to be.

Who’s to say we’re supposed to always have next steps 100% figured out?

If you’re not sure what you want to do, I’m guessing there’s a good chance that you DON’T want to do what you’re doing now or what you just left?

Great!

Instead of trying to think or guess what you can do next, utilize the information that is already out there to help you.

Sites like this one, Indeed, among others have tons of job descriptions. Simply type in some keywords that illustrate the kind of work you would like to do (i.e. Customer Service, Training, Account Management) and see what comes up.

You are simply using the job descriptions that populate to help you get a sense of what types of roles are out there.

Read them casually and when you see something within those roles that interests you, insert THOSE keywords and keep searching.

As you do this, the picture will become clearer: you will find roles that interest you and roles that do not. Both are valuable.

Finally, once you have some ideas for your next step, find folks who are already working in those roles and see if they’d be willing to talk to you so you can learn even more and get the full story.

This may sound obvious to some of you, but make sure you actively PROJECT your voice when speaking with recruiters, HR professionals, or hiring managers during phone interviews.

Not everyone is great on the phone, and that’s okay. This simply means you need to consciously dial up the volume so your excitement and interest about the role and talking about your past comes across well.

Don’t worry about speaking too loudly (chances are you won’t), so go a little over and above your normal volume. Besides, if you are too loud, they will simply lower the volume on their phone. No big deal.

Remember, for these interviews, the interviewers cannot see you, so your eye contact and hand gestures are meaningless (although definitely smile as that will come through in your tone).

To help you stand out among other applicants, you must up the volume and inflect your voice to showcase your enthusiasm and personality for the company and the role.
