Did you know you most likely qualify for services through Vocational Rehab, check with your local office. They can usually get you retrained, advocate for jobs and assist you in rejoining the workforce! Good luck!

Texas Unemployment Discrimination Against The Disabled?

I received unemployment in Texas until I found a job in August. The temp agency told unemployment it was temporary therefore not my fault. I was told to keep filing. I was told they could not give me the payments from Dec. 6th because I did not have transportation. I am disabled and no longer drive due to Neuropathy & nerve damage due to ruptured discs and because of a severe auto-immune disease leaving me inoperable. I was shut out and I would have to call to be able to reapply but waited and tried to reapply in January after renewing an expired ID and I was still shut out and had to call. They did not return my call until May 26th yet TWC re-opened my case to file again stating my application to file expired March 13, 2021. A notice I just received today. I am being punished for getting a job while others say get off unemployment and now they're literally railroading me out of any additional stimulus that I was told I was eligible for because I can't drive. I had no rent mandate where I live so I am being put in a position to still lose my resident after family helping me that I owe. This should be considered discrimination. I was shut out and since when does not having transportation mean you're ineligible for unemployment and my last 3 jobs were remote? Who can help me battle demons? #help #benefits #texas #termination #disabled

My main issue was the managers. I worked so hard, much harder than anyone else and had been there longer than anyone else, but rarely got any kind of recognition. I could deal with that though. But when I got pregnant, we had just gotten a new manager. I have health conditions that made me need to sit down as I couldn't stand for more than a couple of minutes without feeling like I'd pass out due to my fast heart rate. I was a cashier at the time and the groomers let me use one of their stools. The new manager, that didn't like me much anyway, told me that I would need an HR approved stool and could use the groomers stool. I had to have my doctor fill out an 8 page questionnaire, which he did, and she said she sent it to HR. Weeks went by with zero word on the stool, even though I asked nearly daily, and I was getting worse. On Christmas eve, it was very busy and I felt like I was going to pass out. We were short staffed and I told them I could stay and finish my shift if I could use a stool, otherwise I would have to go home. They told me to go home cuz I couldn't use any other stool that wasn't HR approved. That was the straw that broke the camel's back and I decided to quit. # #mythoughts #disabled #hr #Petsmart #badmanagers

Past jobs

I am 62, have a Bachelor degree but am disabled and have only worked a few weeks since 2009. I would love to have a job that I could do where I do not have to walk as my legs are not stable. #seniors #jobsearch #disabled

Job

I would love to find a job, from home, make my own hours. I have Multiple Sclerosis and need something that I can set my own hours due to sickness at times. I worked all my life. I worked for the State of California and did medical billing, working as a legal typist and worked as a book keeper for realty offices. All I can find is stuff like surveys (which pay next to nothing) or play games. Too old for games and the surveys take forever for .50. I am so tired of not being able to find something to help me. #advice #healthcare #disabled #careeradvice #legal #help
