SILENCE

Have you ever taken a job you weren’t sure about, but it ended up changing your life?

Starting my own Bookeeping business.

Yes. 20yrs. When I went on my 1st group interview at Victoria's Secret @ Forum Shops. 9 other ladies in heels and full make-up. Plus, my Plain Jane in flats with a dress shirt, pinned-stripe vest, & pants suit. They hired me as a seasonal cashier. I worked hard, covered people shifts, closed, came back, & opened. Then management decided to keep me switched to P.I.N.K sales associate 3 pay raises & 5yrs. Was the best I loved every minute.

persistence with learning everything about the job and the people

I have twice, after being told the company had more people to interview, told the interviewer that they didn't need to talk to anyone else because they had already found the best candidate. I got both jobs.

Just was what the company gives me every year not much but it's something

Here in NYC, the pay increase was $6,200 overall and unfortunately plenty of overtime. I say that because it's very hard dealing with people with decency and the paperwork, lot's of paperwork

Have I ever said "no" to a promotion?
Yes, back when I worked with IBM, they offered me a promotion to program management twice. Both times, it was a bad fit, and I liked the position I was in. I wonder sometimes, if I should have taken the promotion and made it a "good fit..." #jobsearch #aboutmyjob

How to get your CDL
The first thing you need to do is study for the CDL. Download the DMV study guide from their website. I also recommend downloading the CDL prep app. It’s free and has the same questions as the DMV test. When you are ready to take the air brake and knowledge test, make a DMV appointment. Before your appointment you’ll need a DOT physical from an urgent care. Not all urgent cares offer DOT physicals, so call and find out which one does. They are generally $100 for a medical certificate. When your DMV appointment arrives, take your birth certificate, ID, medical certificate, and two utility bills that prove you live at your residence. 🪪
After passing your test you’ll receive a Class A permit and you can either pay $3,000 to enroll in trucking school which is 27 courses 1 hour each course, or you can apply for a trucking company that will provide paid training. Takes around 2-4 months to get your CDL from start to finish depending on the pace you set for yourself. Any other questions feel free to ask. 🚛
