Finding a decent paying job
Hey everyone so I was sentenced for causing bodily injury while intoxicated and since then it’s been hard to find factory jobs that pay more I never been to prison but it’s really hard I’ve been getting hired then the back round come up and I loose my job

Stocker
No experience, Want to worck

I was thinking about things that never change, regardless of time or circumstance, and the one thing that jumped out at me is the value of kindness: Kindness is a universal value that is always important, no matter the time or place.
Being kind to others and helping those in need is a timeless virtue that will never go out of style.
Of course, it’s really common and quite simple to be kind to those who are kind to us, but what can make our day and make us feel all tingly inside is bestowing kindness upon those who are unkind, even those who don’t deserve it, and yes, even those who are downright mean.
So since Kindness is a virtue I don’t ever want to go out of style, today I choose to be kind…..

Companies That Belong To The SCBC 2022
In April 2021 individuals with felony records were finally acknowledged as being a viable and critical population in the workforce. Recognizing that the stigma of a criminal background was preventing reentry felons from getting jobs and contributing to a major negative impact among their communities, major US companies collaborated with national organizations to create the Second Chance Business Coalition.
Co-chaired by JPMorgan Chase & Co. Chairman & CEO Jamie Dimon and Chairman & CEO of Eaton Craig Arnold, the SCBC promotes the benefits of second chance employment and provides major employers with a set of tools, relationships and expertise to allow them to successfully hire and provide career advancement and greater economic opportunities to people with criminal records.
Companies that have already joined the SCBC include Accenture, AT&T, Bank of America, Best Buy, Cisco, CVS Health, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Eaton, Gap Inc., General Motors, The Home Depot, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Koch Industries, Kroger, Mastercard, McDonald’s, Microsoft, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Prudential Financial, Inc., Schnitzer Steel Industries, Target, Texas Instruments Incorporated, Union Pacific, Verizon Communications, Visa, Vistra Corp., Walgreens Boots Alliance and Walmart. These companies all became members between 2016 & 2021 and the list continues to grow as significant benefits to the companies, employees and communities are being proven. You can read more about the SCBC here:
SCBC.
When job searching, you can ask if the company you're applying to has signed the Fair Chance Business Pledge. Many of these companies have partnerships with community and national organizations that can assist employees with resources to ensure they are getting their needs met so they are healthy, productive and dedicated employees.

Entrepreneur Ideas For Felons
I was talking to my old friend David who is an ex-felon and has been a trucker driver for about 15 yrs. Being a felon, it was the one job he could get after 12 yrs incarceration but he's looking to get out of driving and try to start his own business. He wants to settle in a state that is felon friendly. So we did some research.
While researching, I was saddened to see that as of August 2022 there are still 36 states with no laws against the disenfranchisement of felony offenders. We have a lot of members in this group that are from many of these states.
What we did find is that there are a Lot of solid entrepreneurial opportunities that are viable even in those states & there are training & financial assistance/business grants available. 😊 I found a list of business ideas that are relevant in 2023. If you live in a not-so-felon-friendly state and are wondering if there's hope on the horizon, I encourage you to check out this list and explore the ideas presented. They all seem pretty reasonable, although some will take more footwork than others.
There are organizations that specifically focus on helping felons become successful, productive individuals. We know that lacking the opportunities to get even basic needs met often leads back to old behaviors and re-incarceration. Don't limit yourself and don't entertain the "I can't " negative thoughts. You can, and there is hope and opportunity within your reach! David is very excited to start researching what it will take for him to start his own business and make a new life for himself. He says "When, not if, I'm successfully underway I plan on hiring other Felons to work with me. My business will be a felon successfull one!"
Go check these out and come back and share with other members what you discover!
