Hello! After reading comments on my last post about job searching, I saw a few people mention a resume. I'm homeschooled and I've never had a job before (if we don't include that I was a junior instructor for a martial arts class before) so what do I add onto my resume? #resumehelp

It doesn't matter if you are homeschooled. I would recommend just getting an entry level job like working at at a store as cashier. These places ask you to fill out an application which includes work history. You will just have to leave that blank. Otherwise start volunteering and you can put that on your resume.

On your resume put down your experience as a junior instructor for a marital arts class. Any kind of experience that you have, include it.

Yall remember how as kids adults used to tell us “it’s not what you say but how you say it”

Well baby. That applies to building your resume as well. 😭

Instead of saying, “I did” or “took care” of something, let’s leave that at the door & spice it up a bit. ✨

You: -Performed -Handled -Completed -Managed -Accomplished -Processed -Administrated

Change it up! Just cause it’s your resume doesn’t mean it has to be bland.

There are organizations that can help: CareerGear for men (careergear.org) and Dress For Success for women (dressforsuccess.org). In addition to good-quality donated business apparel, local chapters offer job training, resume preparation, interview coaching and other job search related services.
