I am amazed at everyones rush to Work From Home (WFH)..... Have you even considered the financial increases you assume when you do so? When you worked in an "office" you probably turned down your HVAC setting and switched off your lights before you left for work. NOW you are at home and that small savings has been eliminated causing your electric bill to increase. When you worked in an "office" you had all of your electronics plugged in there and never were charged for the energy consumption, internet use and a myriad of other energy gobbling issues. NOW, all that is on you increasing your utility bill, internet bill and any additional "maintenance issues" that have to be covered. When you worked in the "office" you were clearly covered by the organizations insurance, had a work space that "was the safest the employer "chooses" to provide, participated in fire drills, had functioning smoke detectors and fire extinguishers where local regulations require them. NOW, many are working on makeshift desks, bought the cheapest extension cords and outlet extenders possible (Human nature at work!) and COULD find yourself fighting your employers Insurance Carriers when something "happens" and you tell YOUR Renters Insurance or Homeowner Insurance Carriers that the "event" was due to your working from home.... Ahem, OSHA set the stage when they published this new group is NOT covered by years old requirements.... Talk to your Insurance agent, MAKE SURE you are covered! (YOU MAY NEED TO PICK UP ADDITIONAL COVERAGE OR AN UMBRELLA POLICY). Look,WFH is great for many. I am not saying it cannot be done. What is a CONCERN is the costs and LIABILITY you MAY face by doing so. It will be different for everyone but all I am asking is: What is your true cost to WFH as you have the potential to decrease your income and not have the insurance coverage you think you have..... In today's world it is WORTH looking into. #workfromhome #insurance #energy-efficient
First day of home time and I'm in surgery to open my sinuses up so I can breathe through my nose. Day five I go in for post op to get packing taken out of my nose. I've been trying to get set up for a sleep study and I'm told my company deactivated my insurance. I call my company HR to be told that is was deactivated on the first day of my home time while I was in surgery for my sinuses because they termed me out of the system. She transferred me over to my Driver Manager who reinstates my employment back as if they had never termed me out but my insurance is still inactive. I'm supposed to have a sleep study tonight and I'm told my insurance has not be reactivated yet. This is a pretty dirty way to care for your team members. I hope no one else goes through this kind of garbage from their company.
UPDATE: My Insurance was reinstated by 15:30 and I was able to go through with my sleep study.
