For those who work for General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio we are so sorry to hear that the plant is closing its doors after so many years.

Here are some tips and resources that will assist you in the upcoming weeks!

-Get coverage Having health coverage is so important. Speak to your former employer about extending your health insurance benefit for up to 18 months under COBRA (the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act). You have 60 days after your coverage lapses to opt-in or start shopping for your own policy on healthcare.gov. Your new employment status allows you to enroll even if it's not open enrollment time.

-File for unemployment benefits Often times many of us think that only laid-off employees are eligible for these benefits. However, in most states, fired employees can collect too, as long as they weren't fired for intentional misconduct. It can take a while for benefits to kick in, so file right away.

Check out these companies who are hiring • The Home Depot - hiring for in-store Customer Service, Sales, Merchandising and Warehouse/Distribution Picking, Packing, and Stocking. Interested applicants can apply in person at the employment kiosks located inside the store or online at https://careers.homedepot.com. You can also text the word HOMEDEPOT to 52270 in order to receive an application link.

• Lowes - FT/PT Permanent and Seasonal in-store and warehouse job opportunities are still available. Job seekers are encouraged to visit the Lowe’s career page at https://jobs.lowes.com to seek local job opportunities and apply online for immediate employment consideration.

• Enterprise Rent-A-Car (Work From Home Customer Service Representative) - the car rental giant is is currently seeking skilled customer service professionals to join their Reservation Sales teams. Please refer to https://careers.enterprise.com for more job details and application instructions.

• Concentrix (FT & PT Work From Home Customer Service Representatives) - technical support, customer service, and sales work from home job opportunities currently available. Apply at https://jobs.concentrix.com.

Pay a visit to Ohio Means Jobs Please go to https://www.onestopohio.org for your local career center contact information, career workshops, and available training information. It offers the following:

Back in December I took a job as a merchandiser, that required me to drive a DOT truck.. So I had to have a physical. First day, go for physical, usual drug tests, then Dr comes in, and says I need a sleep study! Bam! Right out of the gate, $7000-$14000. Company expected me to pay for it (no insurance, wasnt happening) I stayed for a week, hoping they would change their minds about paying, and finally was told they wouldn't I was so stressed over this that when the director called and suggested we call it quits, I agreed. He asked that I send him something for the file, so I did. Now I'm fighting unemployment, because he says I left voluntarily. Without cause. Help :(

What’s the difference between a HMO and a PPO and how do I know I’m choosing the right health coverage?
