Looking for a job that pays close to $30 an hour.

Had a job for close to 29+ years. Then bad investments, managers who have no clue about the business (releasing people), and a bad economy. The job I did was a hybrid of different jobs. Now I struggle to fit in one or another job field. Plus everybody is paying low to start out because of the economy. #jobsearch #ageism #careerchange #technology #laidoff #customerservice #sales #interviews

What you do if you 55 and laid off?

After working at the company for many years I was laid off. Although I have experience it is hard to find a job. A phone interview is ok but not in person. Employers do not believe that humans can learn after 50. Because I am a human I do not know EVERYTHING but if you could give me a chance I will learn and I will do well. After applying to so many positions and 2.5 years in I give up. If the economy does not want me so be it. If you see me in the park or sleeping under the bridge just know I am not an addict. I am a hardworking person but I am too old to be hired and too old to for your 20-30 culture. I would look for something else but frankly, the tech is all I know. Thank you for your thoughts. #ageism #laidoff #python #careerchange #training #technology #certification #jobsearch #womanintech

Become a developer, why not?

This is what I said to myself a few years ago. In 2016 I was looking for a job. I already had more than a decade of experience and thought it would be easy to find a place. However after 6 months of applications with no success I realized that it was time to change something. I've always been good with computers but thought that software development is too hard, too boring or too [put any reason for me not to do it here]. Well after those 6 months I was ready to take the leap. I did a bit of research online and found CookSystems (my way in!). I did a 2 months coding bootcamp with them that was basically FREE and had all their support in finding my way into the field. If you have found yourself in a similar situation and think this is something that can work for you, check them out https://cooksys.com/programs/
