So exhausting

So I got laid off it will be a year as of the 25. I have to say I am utterly drained in every sense! Iam mentally emotionally and spiritually drained!! I just don’t know what do I actually dread this life of nothing!!!! It’s so hard to stay positive especially when ur going insane from billls and daily struggle! I think it’s ridiculous what these companies expect from us (qualification wise). Why do I need a bachelor degree to sell a mattress I’m from nyc hustle and common sense is in the blood we have to be fast learners we are so diverse and fast paced seriously tho a 4 year college degree to sell a mattress!!!!! ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!! Especially when you go to the store and the employees are a bunch of idiots who don’t want to help and have child like attitudes!!! I’m trying to remain positive sorry about the rant I had to let it out! Anyway I do not have a hs diploma but I’m obtaining my ged thru a community college someone please help! #advice #qualifications #tired #frustrated #RetailCustomerService #retail

Just Done

I am living in ads it seem like I just don't have no life The only days that I have off is Mondays and Saturdays and Sunday and I barely get any rest or get any sleep so I can have off on Saturday and Sunday I should be able to spend time for myself and go do things and go out to eat and sit down that's about it and enjoy myself but you know when you got other things in the way and try to do what you got to do then it just seemed like nothing don't never work for

Fedup, frustrated, Depressed.

Only jobs I seem to be able to get is part time minimum wage work. Does not seem to matter what my skills are or my education or past successes. Its been that way my entire working like. I can't seem to get anything better. People around me act like I have never worked a day in my life. That the current job is my first job. Low wage work then long periods of unemployment. So tired of it.

I am at my wits end.

What do you do when the only jobs in your area are retail and they won't touch you with a 10 foot pole because you are not an extrovert? Its getting frustrating. Only jobs are the retail jobs and thats it. I don't have an option to move to a different area with other job options. They ether don't hire me because I don't fit their personality test or they look at my education level and say you are to educated or we view you as a threat to our jobs as managers just based on education. That includes the food service end of retail.

Who cares my degrees are worthless degrees, the bottom fell out on the animation world, unless you have major industry experience when you graduate college and no one has that. Employers see MBAs as wasted degree now. As it does not prove you know a thing in their eyes.

People tell me to start a business, but that is not an option. No money and even if I did. My counties business regulations make it extremely hard and expensive to start one. (They wonder why they have 10+ percent unemployment rate here)

I am at my wits end.

Frustrated.

What is the point in being smart, well educated when most of the employers around me only hire based on how well you do on a personality test?

I've been diligently applying online for 6 months through indeed, zip recruiter, career builder, glassdoor...not only sending my resume, but cover letters as well. I have had COUNTLESS phone interviews, some followed by an in-person interview as well as in-person interviews alone. The interviews I have had, have been with some very prestigious companies. Obviously I have the skills, education and work experience that they are looking for..yet I have my interviews and they seem to go great but then I'm quickly back to square one. There have been many that say they will be in contact either way, and if I dont hear from them in the time "they" give me, I follow up once and surprisingly, MANY of them do not respond. I know not to be overbearing, but yet let the employers know I'm still interested. I know there will always be someone else who will outshine me and who has just a little bit more of what employers are looking for, but its getting very disheartening. What bothers me the most I believe, is the employers not being professional with their communication. But let it be a potential employee who runs late for an interview, etc. through no fault of their own, and the employer would be quick to look at someone as unreliable or unprofessional. I have driven as far as more than an hour each way for interviews and have made it clear that traveling for work is not an issue for me. I feel like I'm failing my children, because I am not at the point I was before where I have more than enough "just to get us by". Just when I think nothing will happen, it does..but then it falls through just as quick every time.

False listing= waste of time

Applied for a brand marketing position, received a call to go in for an interview and was told to come in for a shadowing interview. I arrived at 10, was introduced to the employee I would be shadowing and then we were off. We got in his car and drove to a Walmart almost an hour away, I was very confused. We arrived and he unloaded a mini kiosk and we went off to the entrance of the Walmart. He sets up and tells me to write several lists throughout the day. While I was writing these lists, he tried to sell internet service to Walmart customers. Around 1 I asked him of the postion and he explained to me that everyone starts off as an account executive (entry level position) still confused I was patient. We ended up leaving at 5PM!!!!! After they told me it would be until 4 pm at the latest and we went back to the office to fill out a questionnaire and he hiring manager would review before he offered the position. It paid $400-600 a week based on commission, no benefits and I’d spend my days at stores selling internet services. Oh and they work 6 days a week. I was there from 10am to 8pm and that’s he usual amount of hours. It was a waste of time and insulting to offer me a position that did not match what I applied for and then I found out none of the positions matched, they were all the same. Very frustrated #wasteoftime # falselisting #frustrated #marketingmanager

No luck!

I have applied to 20 places or more in my area. No one has called me. I have went in for one interview and that job was given to someone else. I am to the point where I don't know what to do. I am running out of time to start saving up for my senior expenses. School starts in a month. I feel like giving up.
