I was recently laid off (03/20/2020) from my job of 6 yrs as a machinist. I thought I would be there at least another 15 yrs until I retire. But things happen in life unexpectedly and you must prepare for that. One thing I learned through out my life, I'm now 51 yrs old, is that you must create a lot of back up plans to stay afloat in life. I hate the notion of living paycheck to paycheck and not knowing when your employer will let you go and not having that check coming in anymore. The feeling of that send chills through my spine. I'm always learning new things so that I can be very valuable to the next company I get hired onto. I have a lot of skills : Electrical, Robotics Programmer, Welder Certified, Brakepress Operator, CNC Operator and quite a few other skilled trades I do not want to name them all right here but you get were I'm coming from. Always learn new skills to make your job hunting easier for you. I've done and still do some work from home stuff from the side to make extra money for the past 15 yrs. I just like to stay busy. Now since I'm not working I've been busy doing a lot more online work at home opportunities. I'm sure in another week or two I will be working for another company. Too everyone out here looking for a job, stay strong, always learn new things and never give up. Always help out your fellow man and woman, we are in this together. Stay safe and good luck.
