Working for USPS?

Has anyone had success with USPS in the last few years? I have not had a pleasant experience with this company and HR has ignored my answers on why I have not received money owed. I have contacted everyone that I was told to and still have not received any answers. If anyone knows of who I can contact besides HR... Please let me know. #advice #management

Restaurant Manager at The Jay Cafe

so usps does not give you much information/ vs Usps selling themselves. they do tell you what the job entails and I paid over 500.00 for the classes, orientation, driving skills, and a 5 day academy that was 110 miles a day. I had to rent a room for the orientation $300.00. during orientation being diverse was discussed on the first day. I held on to the opportunity because money was invested. But quickly the class took a turn with the instructor asked me in class what diversity meant to me in front of 200 attendees. I know the definition and quite honestly i could have waved my hand up to describe the very definition and was asked what i thought about the section of people that were on the left side. all beautiful women. I was asked among the 5 other caucasian people what diversity meant to me. Being diverse asserts a wide variety of answers. But i knew why he asked me and the instructor laughed because i was sitting upfront not knowing there were small aisles. I didn't place myself in any aisle for we were all there to learn. While he was laughing, i was not because i just was an example on what his diversity meant to him. Bless his heart. Going through all training and orientation and finally i get to work at the post office. The postmaster looked me up and down and said i was overdressed, trying to look like a supervisor. Long story short, I worked for USPS for 10 days before i was forced to resign. Not once did i disrespect the postmaster. I was not given a chance. Horrible experience. And i will never pay into a job that lacks management integrity. and an HR dept. that knows what their job entails.

I've been through that..mine was worse she was the owner and my manager. Life is too short if you have someone above her or HR you should report her even though things will probably be a lot more awkward. Being verbally aggressive towards you is just not acceptable. I wish you luck.

Wrongful Termination

I had been at my job as an assistant manager for 61/2 yrs after being with the company for 8 years. I had finally got promoted to Store Manager after years of hard work. Prior o my promotion I had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second year in a row. After undergoing chemo and radiation for the cancer in2020 I was diagnosed again with breast cancer in the opposite breast So I made the decision to have both breast removed because I could not go through all the chemo and radiation again. I had my double mastectomy in Nov of 2021. I came back to work in my assistant manager of merchandising position 1 day before my two weeks after surgery. I was promoted to store manager and took over the new store in mid December. In april I was terminated because I offended a couple of my associates talking about my own cancer. I had never been Given a warning or received a write up my entire career with this company. I was extremely blindesided with news. Now at almost 50 and diagnosed with cancer again in June I now had to find another job. #termination #management #retail #advice

Interview "always" demand Resume its B.S. if you're not a college professor.

I Have been an over-the- road driver most of my life, and if a potential employer wants to talk to you, "IF" he is with a legal company that pays for insurance, he can learn all about you on his own. All these employment scams are just making it near impossible for normal people to find work. #management

Go out of your own pocket for work?

My boyfriend is the associate director at a small gallery owned by a rich person. He started not too long ago and is curating a show with a large group of artists, but he hasn’t talked to his boss (the owner) about budget for the show yet(install, shipping), because she is not there at the gallery very much. When I asked my boyfriend what if she doesn’t want to commit to the cost of the show? He just said “I don’t mind if I have to pay a few hundred dollars out of my own pocket.” Which I think is absolutely a principle that no employees should pay for directly work related costs out of their own pockets. So we got into a big fight. His argument is: if this show goes well it will be good for his career.

He is full time, salary based, no commissions.

Am I wrong in this argument?

It’s going to start a bad trend with the Rich owner. I end up doing a lot of work (electrical, cctv, network, home theatre and automation) for rich people somewhat often, I had to come to a policy where I won’t even buy a $1.00 receptacle out of my pocket because rich people don’t understand money on the same terms as “normal” people. They’re notoriously cheap when it comes to everyone else, most rich folk truly do have some level of disdain for those who aren’t and believe they’re actually better for having money, and they’re the first to try and beat you up over labor AND materials. He needs to be very careful with the thoughts of “if I do this maybe they’ll see I’m dedicated and it will advance my pay/career/both in the future.” It most likely won’t, there’s a reason they have him on salary instead of hourly, overtime exemption, actually, it disqualifies the employee of many protections, I would expect nothing more from rich folk, they are the hardest to get paid by, take the longest TO pay, they like to consolidate things like labor time that shouldn’t be consolidated (They call for a problem that is unrelated to your work, you tell them what the rates and terms are, they agree, you drive 20 minutes each way, and spend 10 minutes fixing the problem, they call you for something else unrelated OR the cause the same problem again even though you told them not to do the thing that caused it anymore, you spend another 45 minutes mostly driving there again, and they do the “so it only took you 5 minutes to actually fix it, 10 last time so together, 15 minutes, let’s call it an hour altogether. Nooooooo, you live in the next city over, and gas here in CA is still $5.95 a gallon, and I have to carry tools so it’s a truck, and I get 11mpg’s average, it would cost ME money at this point to fix your problem. “Well you can write it off…”. That’s about when I start taking a few days to return their calls or referring them off saying I’m going to be on a 3 month project, because I already know where this road is going. All money is not good money. If he doesn’t respect himself and what his responsibilities AREN’T as well as what they are, this will only get worse, and more frequent. TRUST ME, DO NOT SUBSIDIZE RICH PEOPLE! They do no need it, and will not recognize or acknowledge what you’re doing for them, because it’s Cents on the Dollar for the kind of money it would actually take for them to acknowledge that you’re actually doing something for them that they consider worthy of their gratitude.
