Great question! There are many employers who offer relocation assistance for warehouse associate positions. Some popular job search providers like Jobcase, Indeed, and Glassdoor can help you find these opportunities. When searching for jobs, make sure to look for keywords like "relocation assistance" or "moving package" in the job description or requirements. It's also a good idea to directly ask potential employers about their relocation policies during the interview process. Best of luck in your job search!

Warehouse Lumping

Although I’m a commercial driver now, I used to work in a warehouse for 20 years. I’ve done everything from entry level positions to management. But yesterday I had a delivery to Uline and they had me crack the seal and open the doors. And when I opened the doors I smiled because I was able to have a reminder of what my early days were like working in a warehouse.

There is a position called lumping and this is when you strictly just unload containers filled with boxes from top to bottom all day long. It takes 2-3 hours of a crew of 3-5 people to unload. These containers can get up to 120 degrees inside on a hot day. The process would be 4 workers inside stacking these boxes on a pallet and a forklift driver offloading them and putting the pallet in it’s designated location. When you’re young and fresh out of prison you don’t really mind and actually have a sense of pride working hard and coming home full of dust and sweat. It’s kind of funny that I think about now, but our crew used to hack at each other if you weren’t working hard enough.

This position is pretty much the bottom of the barrel, but I’ve came along way from this position and was able to get two business degrees, two professional certifications, and start up several business ventures. But it was positions like these that made me hungry and allow me to work my way to the top. It’s positions like these that made me set goals. It’s positions like these that make me look back and actually be proud of myself of how far I’m came and where I’m going. So when you find yourself at the bottom of the barrel, it’s just a temporary position to make you stronger and hungry for more. If I can do it, you can do it better.
