This will be quick. I myself am job searching and getting interviews dressed professional and answering questions correct feeling as if I did an awesome job especially when the employer nods, smile and have looks of amazement on their faces while being interviewed. As we all know the economy is pretty messy and sometimes companies have budget cuts and they can't hire as planned, so they reach out to temp agencies. Why because they do not have to pay benefits, They can keep a temp from a few weeks to a few months when it's over they can wait a few months and pick up a temp again. Way cheaper.
For the last two years, I have only been able to get a few weeks here and there as a paralegal temp, but no steady stable employment. I have a college degree, plus paralegal certificate and 12 yrs experience with 7 yrs with one employer. I have pride in myself and want to be productive, but after two years I do not know what I have to do to get a decent paying job. I have gone on over 200 interviews since 2014, and still am currently managing an average of two interviews weekly.
I moved to Vegas 13 years ago and in the last 8yrs the households which speak Spanish jumped from 16% to now above 40%. Nobody wants to hire a paralegal who is not bilingual in this city, and if they do make me an offer its a joke of less than $16hr.
I can not relocate from Las Vegas. Any suggestions, besides take a Spanish course? I will not learn Spanish just because the legal community here panders to the increasily illegal alien population which has taken over this great city.
I was just searching for temp work for myself and I found this awesome website that shows all the regions of Michigan and the temp agencies located in each region! If anyone else is looking for temp work in Michigan, you should totally check this page out!
I have recently been thrown back into the job hunting market and was wondering what the deal is with having to interview now with companies for a temp job. I thought that was the temp agencies job to take care of all of that first and they send someone who is qualified. It’s very frustrating. I have signed with about 5 agencies and am more than qualified for any of the posts I see and haven’t been sent anywhere. I would think since they are getting paid for you working they would be all over it.
