What I loved working at #YangfengAutomotiveInteriors

Yangfeng was an equal opportunity workplace for everyone to advance their careers.

You could be given a higher position from machine operator to team lead or forklift driver, etc before you got hired.

#It had good management. #HR and some Supervisors were reasonable when helping with issues. #The environment was always clean. #It had a huge lunchroom that could accommodate every employee during meetings, potlucks, dinners etc. #It had also great health care benefits like vision, dental, 410k, medical etc.

Now What?

I just received my associates in IT, but I need some experience to start working in the field. Is there any staffing agencies or free programs that can help me get hands on experience?

I don"t know where you are but my advice is stay away from the agencies and. concentrate more on directly contacting the company. You can emroll with Monster.com. and Indeed.com and sift thru the emails they send you that should pertai n to your specific interest. PWC is an. awesome company to work for and they train.

Crazy question

Growing up in the IT world everyone said you have to work your way up the chain. I have several times from Help Desk to eventually a Director role. A few months I got super sick (I had an organ rupture) and received a lot of crap from my employer. I ended up leaving that position even though I loved the company I worked for.

A lot of the places I have applied for either tell me I am way to over qualified to work for the position I have applied for or that because I have climbed the ladder to get to do the things I wanted to do it prevents me from getting looked at.

How would someone handle being told that you are either to over qualified for a position or that you are to seasoned for a position.

I know thats a loaded question but I seem to be running into it a lot.

Sorry for your health issues but thank God you have recovered. You may need to lighten your Resume if you are targeting what are considered entry level positions. If you want to be a Director again, you may need to get certification thatvis typically required.Best of luck.

Let go because of my age

In December 2019 my husband and I were told that after 20 years of working for a major dealership as IT Consultants that we were getting too old (65 and 67) and couldn’t give many more years of work as a younger worker could... We were in shock and many of the co workers and Managers were appalled to see us go because they said that our work was outstanding. Can we sue for age discrimination? It has been next to impossible to find jobs since then because the employers seem to be afraid of older workers. We just want to work and do not even ask for any benefits just a paycheck.

Not easy but possible. You need an attorney who specializes in that area. Who is filing your taxes? hgbcpa@gmail.com

Look at this as an Opportunity to do something different. You've paid your dues & now its time to relax & maybe work part-time. Enjoy your Senior yrs together.

Need Advise

Been looking around for various IT jobs since June. All that’s available is contract work so I took a job that just ended end of January. Of course I’ve been looking for better, more permanent solutions this whole time. Accepted a new contract that starts Monday the 17th but got called to do a final interview in software development on Wednesday. Already signed paperwork for the accepted job so don’t know what to do if the other company offers to pay potentially $10 more.

Hey Clark Patterson , having multiple job offers is usually a good thing for job seekers but you are in somewhat of a unique situation.

At-Will employment or a temp work assignment would be a no brainer but contract employment is an entirely different relationship. By signing a contract you agree to the outlined terms of employment.

Did you review the contract for items related to termination? Take a look and check if there's an out option. If you don't find anything that states your ability to back out of the agreement in good standing then stick with that job.

It's always important to remain professional and maintaining a good reputation within a close knit IT industry will benefit you greatly down the road.

Contact the software developer employer and briefly explain your situation. No need to go into too much detail but do whatever you can to keep that door open in case you decide to go back in their direction when your contract ends.

Hey Clark Patterson , I wish you the best of luck with your decision. Please come back and let us know how this all worked out for you. Thanks!

#overqualified 🙄

Trying for months to get a job. Lots of Distribution experience and IT, Quality. Been jerked around a few times with promises, or even offers after good interviews, then hear nothing. Yes I’ve followed up. Every interview says my resume is great and why am I applying for a lower position etc... well geniuses, maybe it’s because the higher positions aren’t choosing me and I need a job. I’m not afraid to work a ‘lower’ job. I’m broke now. I have nothing. Everyone says ‘anyone can get a job now’ and it’s not true. The lower level jobs either pay 1/4 of my former pay or they just don’t hire me because of my so called great resume. I’m so done with all of this.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like you are in a tough middle ground. Have you tried removing experience off your resume for positions where you are overqualified? I agree that sometimes you just need to swallow your pride and get your foot in somewhere. Anyways I hope your luck turns around. I’m rooting for you. Please keep me posted on how things go!
