Which do you prefer, higher pay OR free child care benefits?

" The cost of center-based child care — as opposed to family child care — jumped by 44 percent." - Politico

The high cost of child care and lack of paid leave are serious issues for working parents. How do we encourage employers to offer more child care benefits?

relocating once current state of affairs subside

Hello all I hope this finds you well despite our current status Just know that this awful pandemic cannot atop you from planning Is there anyone here from GA? I want to relocate, preferably to either Lawrenceville, Buford or Suwanee. Does anyone have insight to affordable apartments in those areas? (but not limited to) I will be working for my current employer Delaware North Companies (DNC) as GA is now open for business I know that DNC is now preparing for business as well

Any insight into apartment hunting would be greatly appreciated

Thank you all and take care and stay safe #staystrong #applications #housing #relocation #newlife

Self trained and thinking about my transition

In preparation for the transition from military to civilian employment I’ve got a few questions regarding my next step. I'm a military RN and will retire in November 2020. For the past 10 years I've worked in the equivalent of military Human Resources (Education and Training). My job entails keeping track of newly and processed and out process staff, oversight of 5 Learning Management Systems (LMS) training staff on clinical and military requirements. I also managed life support training programs such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS). However, most of my time has been spent improving and managing the LMS systems to deliver highly accurate reports and manage staff. And I really have a strong interest in the area and developed Excel skills that are well beyond my Healthcare counterparts. My questions are “Am I really an LMS administrator? Am I a good fit for such a role in the civilian world? What do other LMS administrators do? And what is their reasonable expected pay rate? I'd love to get comments from people that are already out there, especially if you're working in the LMS or a related field.

One thing that drives me nuts.

The employer or recruiter has your resume, but still expects you to fill out a long job application, or visa versa. They have your job application, but also want a Resume or CV. Seems like its like they are checking off boxes even if the request is a waste of time for you and them. Sort of like a teacher who sends home, home work for the sake of home work. Even if its not related to the work done in class.

Employable?

I now have been in the Las Vegas area going on 6 months . If I have applied to 1 job I've applied to 1000 jobs . My problem , or should I say problems is

  1. I've applied but never hear a response
  2. I get an email saying that the company moved on to other candidates , for basic jobs like data entry positions no less
  3. I dont know what employers want, if I never a call back . I cant even email back with a " why was I not selected"
  4. Even applied to temp agencies like randstad , apple one , etc and they all come back with the positions are filled or I didnt fit the " type " At this point I'll take anything. But nothing is coming through. If I dont find employment soon I'll have no choice but to go back to NY . Atleast I know the job market there and what employers will pay plus I know the cost of living . Such a shame that someone who wants to work , cant find employment. Very Disheartening . Does anyone have any ideas ? Or possible employment openings , opportunities? I can dummy down my resume if I need to , just to be able to work
