Looking for ideas on job search when you're over 50.

I've been looking for work about a year now. I'm in the Huntington, WV area. There has been a couple of promising interviews to only be ghosted. I didn't expect this as I do have quite a bit of experience and a college degree in banking & finance. That is probably 70% of my background. I've also worked in retail, wholesale, government, tourism, and medical (pharmacy). I imagine it's my age, 51, and the fact I've been out of the workforce for 10 years now. I've explained the gaps in any interview and the resume. I took time out to care for my aging parents. I still have my dad. My husband is able to help now that he was laid off, is attending college full-time and working part-time. So I've attempted to look for work to help financially. I'm not sure how to go about this. I've tried the WV job service. That is a total waste of time. I've attempted temp agencies. And I've tried sites for older adults as mentioned earlier. I've noticed it seems I'm in that hole. Too old at 51 as no one really is interested. Though they won't admit it. But a lot of the of the resourses I've come across is for the 55+ crowd. Anyone have any ideas? I really need something with benefits for the both of us. I never dreamed at my age that I would be having this hard of a time looking for work. Especially when they keep telling everyone things are good in the market right now. I also didn't expect to being offered or applying for jobs that are paying as much or less than I was making 20 years ago! Again, if anyone has any thoughts. What is ironic is the fact my husband was laid off I believe due to ageism too. We can't prove it though. We were told he made too much money. SMH
