Where are the Delivery Drivers?

Uber last week unveiled a $250 million recruiting push aimed at ride-share drivers, which could take driver share from its delivery business.

"“As more people are vaccinated, demand from customers has increased. We're working to bring more drivers and delivery people onto the road, and for anyone interested, now is a great chance to earn money flexibly on your own schedule.” Meghan Casserly, Uber Eats’ Head of Communications

Meanwhile, both DoorDash and Uber Eats are ramping up service to other segments such as grocery, convenience and pharmaceuticals, which could be another factor stretching networks thin.

What made working for #UberEats a great experience was

I like working for Uber Eats. You can turn your phone on and off when you want. You don't have to schedule blocks of time like other delivery apps. But the payout isn't good unless they're offering a bonus. Also, they recently sent me an email saying I have a customer who said I didn't deliver their food, which is a bold faced lie. And other customers who say they were missing food from their order. If the bag is stapled or tied at the top, how am I supposed to know what is in the bag? I ask if everything is in there? If the counter person says yes, what else am I supposed to do? I'm a delivery driver, not quality control. They told me if this continues, I'm going to be deactivated. Funny because I feel those messages should be sent to the restaurant to address the employees who are bagging and prepping the food.

Can you make $100 per day with UBER Eats?

There are a few little tricks you can implement to earn more money as an Uber Eats driver. And while they often involve hustling a bit harder, they’ll ultimately lead to more cash flow.

Here are some earning tips:

  • Limit Your Working Area - Working within a small radius can help you earn more money as opposed to trying to cover a large area. It not only helps you to cut down on gas but it also allows you to travel quickly from one job to another.

  • Don’t Miss a Surge Period - Certain times of the day are busier for Uber Eats than other times of the day. Lunch and dinner time, for example, tend to bring in a lot more orders than breakfast.

  • Be Extra Courteous - Tips are crucial for Uber Eats delivery drivers.

  • Double as an UberX Driver - One of the nice things about working for Uber is that they let you switch interchangeably from one service to another. In other words, you can drive for both Uber Eats and UberX at the same time.
