I have had many jobs & responsibilities in my diverse career, but the last 22 years were for a small single owner company that was like a second family. My only regret was that I stayed until almost 70 years of age instead of using my retirement years to pay attention to my 3 adult children & my 3 grandchildren. Shame on me!!!

I am a retired Dental Hygienist of 45 years. Licensed and registered in Maryland but not in Florida. If I would accept a job interview I only want part time or occasional work. Trying to figure out if I want to continue working in my retirement or just enjoy my independence

After I retired from working as an Executive Assistant, I planned to upgrade my home. So got a job at home depot paint department and learned so much about painting, tile, blinds, carpet, plumbing and electrical. SO glad I took the opportunity to broaden my knowledge and HD was the perfect place to do it. Really enjoyed my time working for them and how well they treat their employees.

Yup it can be a tough road. I'm finally retired but am still interested in working. They all want to see my resume. I don't want to show it! The most common response is 'We can't afford to hire you". That is code for - your too old! Worked full time jobs for nearly 40 years with a nearly perfect record. No one wants a EE that used to make 100 k even to do a part time delivery job.

I have lived in NC for a month and a half now, I have had no success with getting a job. Although I do have a small monthly income from my early retirement from my job. Less than 1000 dollars though, I have also taken custody of my 2 grand daughters. So you know my income is not sufficient. I have been to some interviews but has gotten no response back from anyone. I seriously think there is a lot of age discrimination going on here. But I just say oh well its their loss. Because I have training in alot of areas. I will never beg for a job. I have worked since 15, and am 57 now. I will make a way.

Just retired as Psych Teacher and am not ready to spend my days on the couch in front of the TV, except for sports. Would love to do some substitute teaching or tutoring.
