I work at a hotel, and they recently opened a new restaurant in our same building. I spoke with the hiring manager at the restaurant about possibly working there part time, and he told me to bring him my resume and we could go from there. When I returned to work after my day off, my coworkers were being kind of rude, and making odd comments and laughing. Someone even tore my name badge off my storage cubical. I didn’t understand what was going on... until I found this:

By the front desk was the resume I had given to the restaurant manager, except it had ‘corrections’ written by my current manager all over it. And as I read it, the jokes my coworkers had been making suddenly made sense- they had read it too!

I’m so embarrassed and violated and hurt. I don’t know what to do.

Any advice? Thank you! #advice #management #bullying #resume #coworkers #discrimination #violation #privacy

I work in the field overseeing team installation projects, and today when I logged into work email I was forced to download a new tracking software to access my email.

Then they asked me to enable tracking to they can spy on me at all times with my own phone.

This feels wrong, right? #privacy

What's to say their tracking software doesn't monitor more than simply your location?

Recently there have been several posts from Jobcasers dealing with job loss or the fear of being fired after taking a boss or co-worker into their confidence. In this era of social media it seems everyone is more and more open about their finances, relationships, political views, etc. But that is NOT wise --- and it is NOT healthy.

Guard your privacy. As you work alongside people it's natural to become friends with some. And that's great. Be cordial, be a friend, but always keep the relationship professional. Limit what you share and you'll be happier and better for it. So will your career.

Remember that -- first and foremost -- you are there to DO YOUR JOB.

So. Jobcase is an open-access platform. This is a big deal, because this means that employers can search and find your worklife profile and offer you jobs before you even start looking. Or you could be invited to join a closed group that supports you the way Unions used to. Or lots of other great stuff. But. Sometimes you might get messages from folks that you would rather not hear from. Don't worry - we've got your back here with a 'block-feature'. All you have to do is look for the 3 dots next to their name on an incoming message (in jobcase-mail you'll see the picture and name on an incoming message and in the top right corner a "..." ). Click on 'block user' and no more messages will be received by you from that user.
We are finding the balance in this social network that allows you to get the right connection at the right time to move your worklife forward - yet still have your back on controls. Keep giving us feedback as we'll keep getting it better and better! #block #didyaknow #privacy #jobcasemail
