Asked if I like a boss after getting chewed out

I had a boss recently who chewed me out on something, and I got a little upset with her. Then out of the blue, she asked me if I even like her. The whole thing really upset me. Three weeks later, I was out of a job. Why would someone ask if I like them after getting chewed out? Does she want me to suck up to her, or did she genuinely want me to like her? I'm living in WV, but am originally from Michigan. Could regional differences also play into this? I will not suck up to anyone, anytime, anywhere, ever. #termination #management

If I am self employed why do all the gig jobs background Check me?

I did get into some trouble in 2020 and I went jail for 3 months and they actually did trump up my charges but it was COVID season so I was going be in jail for a long time if I went to trial so I was advised to accept charges for a fire that never happened… I am a felon because the da is a liar! It’s desr my life and now I can hardly find any work. I know you probably don’t e me but I am telling you that this is the way my life has gone so far… so I’m just going to be a content creator, maybe get started with YouTube and get something going with my writing… lifelong dream so why not? I have nothing to lose anymore. TBH I don’t know what has been stopping me before all this. #advice #independece. #management #termination

Is it wrongful termination?

I have worked as full time server in hotel restaurant for over 4 months. I get all medical insurance, dental, and 401 K, but this month I will work as teller at bank. So I texted to my Boss that I want to keep my position, but just work as part-time server since I will work at bank. He didn’t reply anything, but after I backed from my days off. He texted me that he took my schedule off and hire new server already, since He wants 5 days server and He told everyone that I resigned and he also asked me to return the uniform and badge. Can he do that to me? Since I am the full time server with full every benefits already. I have not resigned or signed anything yet, including never ever said I quit or resign, just saying I just want to work only 2 days. Since I still need hotel’s medical insurance for my HPV treatment this month and next month. But I will start working at bank by the end of this month, and bank told me that i will get medical insurance next month as well. Should I confident that I will get medical insurance from bank next month, and let it go? Or should I tell Hr of hotel, but I am not sure that hotel can terminate full time employee anytime since I am foreigner with Green Card? #termination #management #advice #

You have no recourse. You told him you didn’t want to work full time. You can’t just decide yourself to work part time and keep full time worker benefits.

I am a person that thinks the customer is priority. I have been in more than one company and see that the manager that is to me; and I would like the manager to approach me if there is an issue and at this time there was. And again no response from the manager, I see this as a poorly ran establishment. Sometimes we want to blame it on the hourly employment, but instead I see that your hourly employee is going to be as good as your manager. #management

Forced Resignation?

I lost my position due to a post on LinkedIn. The post stated that I was looking for opportunities. I was a told by my manager that it wasn't appropriate for a supervisor to post something like that and that she was going to take it as my resignation effective immediately. There was nothing I could do. I was asked to pack my things quietly and not speak with anyone. I was followed to my desk, watched while I packed, and escorted from the building by my manager. She then told everyone that I quit.

Is this legal? Who can I speak with? I was there for almost 7 years... Loved my position and was great at it. #termination #management #advice #legal #employeelaw

Supervisors live with a target on their back. You were obviously outed by a coworker or subordinated who was gunning for a way up and you were an obstacle. Sorry.

You definitely need to speak to the Labor board. Also prepare a statement for unemployment in detail as to what happened. You will want to fight for it. Sounds to me like she had it out for you and was threatened in some way. I hope she gets in trouble for lying. I would be interested in what her bosses would have to say is if you told them she lied.

How do I approach my bosses about my concerns with the company?

So I've been working with a company for about 4 months now. I'm a bit unsatisfied with certain things and don't know how to handle my concerns.

I'm a helpdesk technician for an MSP. My biggest issue is, as a new tech fresh out of school, I don't get alot of upper level support. There are tasks and tickets I'm stuck with I do not understand or feel comfortable resolving - but I have no recourse to escalate as the tickets get pushed back down to me with bland instructions like 'Google it' and nothing else. I'm stressed over how to handle my work and feel I have little to no support. The bosses are always obsessed with their own things. It's gotten to where I'm contemplating leaving the position and even taking a loss of wages for lower paying jobs just to end the stress.

What should I do in a situation like this? #advice #management

First - stop stressing. If you are doing what your bosses say then you’re OK. A couple of things I’d recommend; keep track of questions you didn’t understand; date/time you asked your boss; and whether they said Google it or gave you useful response. This is ‘defensive’ measure.
——— From a positive POV - your boss may see you as someone capable of solving problems & is just encouraging you to be more self reliant.

———- From an improvement perspective: ask yourself if you’re the only one being told to Google things? If all of the support people are doing the same thing then it’s likely each of you is looking up something someone else has already looked up. Is this really a problem? Only if the questions are repetitive and result in significantly wasted time. What is a better way to handle this? Create an internal blog? Maintain an FAQ list?

Or is there just a lack of training material available?

It’s possible that the company tried other solutions like FAQs but found maintaining them less useful or more costly.

From a training material POV - I always like to think about the person/people coming behind me. What could I do to make their onboarding/learning easier? Put some effort into organizing the topics you found most useful. Even a list of links by topic could make their job easier than having to find the best site via Google.

One thing to takeaway when you get an unsatisfactory answer is to think about why your boss gave that answer. It could be that there are factors you didn’t consider; maybe a question of relative importance of the problems your company has; or your boss may just be repeating his/her experience (I.e. not knowing any better); it may also indicate that continuous improvement isn’t particularly valued by the company.

Hey Joseph,

I'm sorry to you all going through this stress. If you are working with a manager, you should be able to express yourself and ask got help. The best way to learn be in the situation, and you should ask your manager for getting help.

Plz help!!!

I was wrongfully terminated from a job I truly loved, but before they humiliated me, discriminated, disrespected, and bullied. I was told that nobody had to respect me unless I earned my respect.. I went above and beyond for this company I even trained myself, thet say I asked alot questions well I had to I was learning on my own.. I think that because I have a strong work ethic and a business mindset support team was having to work and be accountable for their actions. That wasn't my fault, now that I applied for unemployment the person that hired me didn't remember when I was hired or dismissed and he reported I made less then half of what I really made, now I'm having to appeal.. Now that I'm applying for jobs I feel insecure and my anxiety plus nerves get really bad and i don't know what to do. #advice #termination #management #jobsearch #interview
