Let’s celebrate the power of experience earned mile by mile

Happy Friday, Jobcasers! Each week, we highlight a community member whose lived experience brings real clarity to career questions. This week’s $100 Jobcaser of the Week shared firsthand insight from decades on the road.

🏅 Joseph Vey

With over 40 years behind the wheel and millions of accident-free miles, Joseph offered honest guidance on getting started in trucking. He explained that many drivers begin with over-the-road routes to build experience, while others go through company training programs or driving schools to earn their CDL. His perspective is a reminder that every path starts somewhere—and that consistency, patience, and pride in your work can take you a long way.

💙 Thank you, @Joseph Vey, for sharing your journey and helping others understand what it takes to build a lasting career on the road.

Here is the Jobcasers of the Week Award Winner!

Diane Koretha Earl - Reliable Professional with 23 years experience in Customer Service from Fort Lauderdale, FL -> connect, follow, and send a shout-out to Diane HERE

  • How do you overcome life-impacting challenges? Unfortunately, we are not all blessed to have a network of family, friends, and honorable colleagues readily available to encourage and empower us to overcome our circumstances at a moment's notice.

Achievement requires a serious investment in health, peace of mind, self-evaluation, goal-setting, and ACTION! Still not feeling inspired? No worries!

Rest assured that we still have people like Diane Koretha Earl to sustain, uplift, and accompany us during our darkest hours and moments of hopelessness…

“During the pandemic, my beloved company was forced to initiate a workforce reduction. I volunteered to retire after 23 years as a professional flight attendant, operations/performance manager, and ticketing agent. Prior to working in aviation, I was employed as an assistant account manager and claims manager for two commercial insurance agencies. I have learned so much from those experiences.

Being an active person, wanting to stay fit and supplement my income, I decided to return to the workforce. Currently, I’m keeping active as a package handler and enjoying working with a great team.” - Diane Koretha Earl, Valued Community Member and Jobcaser of the Week

Other Diane Koretha Earl Inspirational Moments:

Please join us in extending a warm and heartfelt Congratulations to Diane Koretha Earl for her dedication towards member support, advice, and encouragement within this community.

Are you a Jobcaser of the Week ($100 award)? If not, maybe next week?

It can pay to help people in the Jobcase Community! Five Jobcasers are selected as the Jobcasers of the Week. They are awarded $100 for

1 - Providing helpful answers to questions by fellow Jobcasers

2 - Having a fully filled-out profile, including a profile picture

Here are the Jobcasers of the Week!

Larry Jones, follow and connect with Larry here - Larry recently offered some important feedback on the #Lumper Workforce employee training process…

“They teach you how to break down a truck, it's a number system the numbers are usually bar codes and if it doesn't have one you will have to make one using a label which is usually yellow. You will place the product on pallets depending on what's on the truck you can have up to 20 different pallets it will be on your breakdown sheet, learn to use the equipment it will save you a lot of time and also help your body in the long run.”

Mark Smith, follow and connect with Mark here - Quick question… Would you rather have amazing benefits OR great pay as a Forklift Operator? Here’s what Mark has to say about this…

“For me, it depends on the forklift duties. I worked at the #ACE Hardware Distribution Center and the forklift work was demanding because you had to stock bins and you were constantly getting on and off your forklift. High pace environment also. So, to answer the question, I would rather have benefits, especially if the forklift job is very physically demanding because your body is going to break down and you will need health insurance. The other important factor is your age. The older you are, the more important benefits are!”

Hector Paredes, follow and connect with Hector here - Interested in a Real Estate Agent job? Make sure you can show this experience…...

“You will need to get licensed first to be able to work in RE. Different states have different rules/exams, so it would depend on the state you live. Usually, you don't need the experience to start working as a RE agent. Some companies would even help you with training to get the license; you can work for them once you are licensed. Get your license y a darle!”

Joseph Skrivanek, follow and connect with Jospeh here - Electrical Engineers workers are still in high demand across the country. Landing a good job often requires the best training. Here’s a short list of Electrical Engineer training options…

“1 - You can find a community college or technical school that has a degree in Electrical Technology. 2 - You can attend a 4-year college that has an Electrical Engineering degree. 3 - You can get started by getting hired as an #apprentice electrician for an electrical contractor or manufacturing company and learn the requirements for doing electrical engineering functions.”

Tina Scott, follow and connect with Tina here - A community member recently asked, How do I use my past experiences as a supervisor to land a job as a supervisor? and Tina graciously responded with some personal and practical career advice…

“When I hired Supervisors, I wanted someone I didn't have to babysit or hold their hand and walk them through every step! Someone that could solve problems or issues on their own by running to me every 5 mins. They have to know how to read their team, pull out each person's strength, and delicate authority and my biggest thing is his team should want to work well enough and hard enough to make him shine because when he shines I shine! Have a little fun at work so people enjoy coming back. My Dad always used to say " your only as good as your workers" Good Luck God Bless and don't sweat the small stuff, Ron! You'll be great!”

Please join us in extending warm and heartfelt Congratulations to all the JCOW Winners for their continued member support and encouragement within our community. Thank you.

Happy Holiday & Enjoy your $100 Reward!
