How many years of experience do I need to qualifiy for a cook job?

Jus depends on facility ...there are places ready to teach you but then there are places where the require u to have experience.

You can obtain certification in two years.
Cooks may be eligible for the Certified Culinarian designation through the American Culinary Federation. Eligibility requirements include a high school diploma and two years of experience. Some employers, however, only require that a cook has proficiency in food safety, advanced cooking, and sanitation. Covering these units takes barely two years. Acquire advanced training to have a good grasp of skills needed for fast-paced work environments. For more info...

Depends on who and where your cooking for. Also how you cook now. It's hard work but if it's what you want then I would say alot of places will do on the job training to an extent. I didn't have any experience at first. But I received alit of training over the years. Your heart has to be into it

18 years cooking experience

That’s a good question!! I started cooking when I was about 7 boiling and frying eggs after school. And I never missed an Episode of three’s company since I started watching that show, watching my mom, grandma,& Auntie’s I knew I wanted too grow up and be a chef: started working at Burger King 5.00$ an hr graduated high school transferred job from Nj to Tx put my way through culinary school. Graduated culinary came back too Nj started a job in the restaurant in the freezer moved up the ranks too grill. Then line then head chef then sous chef then Executive Chef then district Chef and so fourth. Now I won my first award last year in 27 yrs 2 cookbooks with Dorrance Publishing that will be out next year. So my answer will be as long as there’s seasoning on your food and a song in your heart the only experience you need speed and execution. Everything have too be timed and whatever you do and this is most important the 1 thing that can make a Chef or Break a up coming Chef and that’s the line I’ve seen the line make people tap out don’t be afraid too show what you got. Cause the Executive Chef is looking for his next star.🤙🏿🤙🏿🤙🏿

It's usually 1 year but a lot of in Vegas require you to have more than that. I have over 10 yrs in the kitchen and still get looked over.

It depends on what type of cooking job your getting if you go to fast food they will teach you, if you go to a restaurant that is big on clientele the depending on how many year you have will decide what you get paid

10+years
You really don't need any as long as you let your employer know that you have no experience but are willing to learn alot of employers like that because then they can train you how they want . But on the other hand if the jobs says experience only than I would say at least 1 yr in the kitchen and be able to cook all common dishes
