How do I use my past experiences as a supervisor to land a job as a supervisor?

@Ron Kubasta the best suggestions I can provide are to have an updated resume showing where these skills were used then on your cover letter include how one or two of these skills were used to the hiring manager being written to so they can see how you would work with their team. Hope the above helps and best wishes to you for 2023!

Working as a supervisor has many challenges from meeting the goals set for you and setting goals for those you supervise. When you are interviewing one thing that you can do is focus on successes in both meeting your own goals and how you reached your expectations. You also need to focus on how you met the challenges of specific employees and how you were able to turn that slacker into a model employee. Supervision is a people job. It is not about completing the work but how you novitiated others to complete their goals that you have set for them.

Bring a supervisor is all about knowing your team and your KPIs. Learning and leading with example is another key factor. I was supervising a manufacturing team and my concentration was mainly on reducing lead time and creating a safe workplace . Depending on your field you can set your goals and plan ahead for what you want to achieve .
Hey Ron. My Dad owned his own plumbing business and convenient store/everything else store. My Mom kept up with all his books and did most of the work for his taxes. Which means I've had a job of some sort since I was 8. He was ol school, hard but kind. No slack and taught me all these sayings that made me who I am. I've owned a few business of my own and been on the higher upper mgt. When I hired Supervisors, I wanted someone that I didn't have to babysit or hold their hand and walk them through every step! Someone that could solve problems or issues on there own with running to me every 5 mins. They have to know how to read their team, pull out each person's strength, delicate authority and my biggest thing is his team should want to work good enough and hard enough to make him shine because when he shines I shine! Have a little fun at work so people enjoy coming back. My Dad always use to say " your only as good as ur workers" Good Luck God Bless and don't sweat the small stuff Ron! You'll be great!
