How do you respond when someone says you're “overqualified”?

Oh, you are saying I’m too old, huh??

I feel there is always something new to learn.

Thank you, but I believe there is always something new to learn in any new position that maybe offered to me. Additionally, I hope my experience will add to this companies core values and financial future .

Trying to start a new career, I'm not sure how I'm over qualified

I feel like that's a good thing. That just means that I will bring a vast amount of skills and experience to the position that someone who may be less qualified than I am to this position. I see that as a benefit to the company.

Over qualified means what from an interviewers perspective? I believe they didn't like your answers or the amount starting you asked for.

I don't think so

I would like to know as well...been in this situation before myself was told the same thing at an interview when the place I was interviewing with had called me and ask me if I would like to come in to interview for a position I hadn't applied for because I did interview with them not too long prior for a different position they had open I did apply for.....and when I accepted and came in and interviewed when it was over they told me that unfortunately I was overqualified for the position! Really what the h.........is all I could think at the time made absolutely no sense to me!!!???

I do not feel you can be overqualified for a position because a new company always has a different set of operational expectations that you have to acquire in order to be successful. And if I am overqualified that should be to their advantage
