What are some red flags you’ve noticed in job postings that made you avoid applying?

Applying for jobs and not knowing if they are even looking at them. At least let the person know if there application has been looked at

When the salary isnt even listed, or you see a very low salary, yet the company wants the applicant to be able to demonstrate proficiency and experience in a multitude of things that they should be paying a much better wage for.

If it’s 1099 and not w2 for full time employment run… first that is probably illegal, and secondly they probably want to stiff you on any and all wage-hour, agreed salary and employer/employee obligations…. The only time you should accept 1099 is if it’s truly a small side-hustle you can afford to be stiffed on or have other protections against, or if you manage dozens of independent clients each of whom you can afford to loose individually..

I was asked to pay for an app on a computer that was supposed to be provided to me by the company that was hiring me. The whole interview was conducted on Microsoft’s teams platform where I was told I had the job with lucrative pay and all the equipment I needed, but then asked to pay $500.00 dollars for the app. From now on I don’t trust anyone that wants to interview me on that platform.

When reviewing job postings, there are a few red flags that can signal potential issues within the company or role, making me avoid applying. Here are some key ones:
Vague Job Descriptions: If the job posting is unclear about the responsibilities or requirements, it often suggests a lack of structure or transparency within the company.
Unrealistic Requirements: Listings asking for an extensive list of qualifications, certifications, and years of experience for an entry-level role can be a sign that the employer is either setting impossible expectations or not aware of industry standards.
Unspecified Salary Range: If the salary is not mentioned or it's labelled as "competitive" or "negotiable," it may indicate that the company is unwilling to offer a fair compensation package, or they might expect you to undervalue your skills.
High Turnover: If the job posting mentions "urgent hiring" or "immediate start," it might be worth investigating the company culture. High turnover rates could suggest poor management or a toxic work environment.
Overemphasis on "Fast-Paced" or "Always On": A company that constantly highlights the need for employees to be available at all hours or work in a fast-paced, stressful environment might be one that doesn't value work-life balance or employee well-being.
Lack of Company Information: If the company or team is not mentioned in detail, or the posting is more about the job itself than the organisation, it could indicate a lack of clarity or stability.
No Clear Career Development Path: If there’s no mention of opportunities for growth, training, or promotion, it can suggest that the company does not prioritise employee development.
These red flags typically indicate underlying issues within the company that could impact job satisfaction and long-term success. Always trust your instincts when reviewing job postings.

there is always a reason why they dont put the starting wage in these jobs because the money is so low if they did show you what they were paying NO ONE would apply

They asked how I felt about abortion

it asked me for payment upfront for certain jobs.! it has a huge weight lifting requirement yet it doesn’t wanna pay me nothing to do this job and third no salary written on the job listed.
Not putting the salary on the ad. Stay away because they will probably low ball you even when the salary for the position starts out at a higher rate.
