Frustration with searching and "interviews"
Ok, so I have put in more than enough applications for the remote work I am looking for. But now I am getting interview requests. And of course, the one that sounds good and makes sense to my situation ends up being a scam. Why should I have to download a whole different app to speak with a hiring manager? That is why we have email and phones I thought. So if you want to apply to Halo Pharma, I would say don't waste your time. And everyone wonders why I'm so annoyed and irritated all the time?! It really shouldn't be this hard to find remote work. Especially when I am seeking such simple work it's ridiculous. We need to get Cassie back already ugh!!! I'll just go work on my typing some more and pray for something good to come along. #tiredofscams.
I think one piece of career advice has quietly become outdated....
For years we've been told:
"Always chase the next promotion."
I'm not sure that's always the right answer anymore.
Sometimes the better move is:
learning a skill that will be valuable five years from now working for a manager who will invest in your growth joining a company where you'll solve bigger problems taking a lateral move that opens more doors later staying put long enough to build real expertise
The best career decision isn't always the one that gives you the biggest title today.
Sometimes it's the one that creates the most opportunities tomorrow.
I've started thinking less about "What's my next job?"
And more about:
"What decision gives Future Me the most options?"
That one question has completely changed how I look at careers.

Jobs not matching my resume
Anyone else getting job recommendations for a truck driving position or other non-relevant positions? I do, even when there isn't a single reference to me looking for any type of driving role or any previous experience driving for a living listed on my resume?
Was a cashier under 90 days and became a Department Manger over mens and boy.
It was a new experience for me eager to learn. Had never worked retail in my life. But its a good feeling when its the first Super Center builded in your home town. And My Sam Walton flys to San Angelo Texas to shake your hand and say good job for being in the top of sales in your district. Top ten. Only 5 associates made it in our monthly magazine from our stores and I was one of those 5 given 1 share of stock from Mr Sam Walton to each of us to show his appreciation for the hard work and dedication to the company.
One thing I've been thinking about lately...
Most of us only think seriously about our careers when something forces us to.
A layoff.
A bad manager.
Burnout.
A recruiter reaching out.
A missed promotion.
Then we update the resume, start applying, and try to figure everything out under pressure.
What if we thought about our careers the same way we think about our finances or our health?
Not only when something goes wrong.
But continuously.
I've become convinced that the biggest career advantage isn't having the best resume.
It's consistently making better career decisions before the next crisis ever happens.
