Will Walmart ask me, "Describe a time you provided great costumer service" after I told them that this would be my first job ever, except school? Or will they skip over that question? In Maine they pay very well, make sure it's Walmart is looking to hire you and they are strict but I'm sure you have been there. Be prepared to drive to your nearest DC to work and then drive home.

Getting hired at Walmart
The best way is to annoy them basically. Walmart is always hiring and looking for people to fill open positions. The more that you show them that you want the job, or how driven you can be to fill an opening the more like they will chose you. I called everyday for almost 2 weeks, then I started going there as frequent as possible to speak with a hiring manager. Many Walmart's have changed to self check out. So many hours have been cut or moved around people in different departments. Many big box stores only have a certain amount of hours they can give each week/month. Sometimes when people leave they deal with one less person. Closer to the holidays they will hire more help. Just keep all your applications up to date. Try applying for different positions to get in the door. Good Luck!

It's not like it used to be. Don't get me wrong I loved working there. The customers were great. It was the management that was the issue I had. I miss my customers.
Community service/volunteer work is still work. I'm not too sure about mentioning the community service, tho, they might wonder why you were required to do it. Basically, just come up with an example that fits, whether in a job or in school.
