Lack of options. I though TSA would be a foot in the door for other agencies, but it wasn't. They recently tried to fire me for having depression which was controlled with medication. If hired you will most likely work part-time until full-time schedules open up. If you do get hired be sure to join the union. Think of it like pre-paid legal for 25 bucks per pay period because you will need it at some point. Retirement and benefits are good. They will match up to 5%.

Supervisor at Tsa

For a newer Officer you will most likely work in the checkpoints. You show up at your scheduled time and location. Most shifts will receive a briefing before shift. Brief on any news or procedure changes that might affect your daily operations. Then start your day and go from position throughout the day. Rotated every 30 mins. There’s extra jobs you can apply for to break the minutia of day to day SOS.

The Transportation and Security Administration is still looking to fill up to 6,000 new Security Officer jobs by September 2021.

Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) are the face of the agency, the people on the front lines and the most important role at TSA. For many people, working as a TSO has led to a long, fulfilling career with the federal government. Apply online today at TSA - National Security Officer Hiring Initiative

In order to attract more employees, the agency is now offering a $1,000 sign-up bonus.

General Job Duties:

  • TSOs are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. Their duties may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures and/or anything that includes or impacts TSA transportation systems.

Search for local job opportunities, learn more about the TSAA hiring process, and apply online today at TSA - National Security Officer Hiring Initiative

Job Training:

  • TSOs are eventually required to complete an immersive training program at the TSA Academy. Located in the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA, the program is a total of 80 compensable hours.

  • TSA covers all travel expenses and lodging, as students must reside on-center or in FLETC-provided housing for the entirety of the program. While the TSA Academy provides the foundation for success, employees continue to receive training throughout their TSA career.
