Should you always discuss compensation when you get a job offer?
I'm curious what people think about this. I know some people (especially in more corporate fields) who have a personal policy to ALWAYS negotiation compensation when receiving a job offer. But I also have some close friends in other industries (non-profit, etc) who feel like they could actually lose the offer if they asked. What do you think? What's your experience? #interview

Getting my foot in the door
So I was called in for a second interview! And I believe I got the job. Only thing is I also interviewed for another position with the same organization that pays more. How do I approach the first position if the second that pays more offers me the job as well?? I hate to let people down. That’s my problem. The main goal was to get my foot in the door.

Middle aged candidates
Hi, I have been searching for a job now for several months. I have had several interviews and some offers, however, the salary range I am looking for from these employers will not pay my salary range. I am 4 to 5 years away from retirement. Just trying my best to be patient and hope the right fit and company with the right salary will come into my radar as i apply.. My thinking is you pay for quality work performance. Much harder for middle aged people to acquire the right fit these days. Thanks for listening.

Week before Christmas
I lost my job of 7 years a week before Christmas. I had nothing lined up and my last paycheck was all I had for the holidays. I got my resume updated started posting and searching. I took every interview I could get and no one was calling. I finally got a callback with an ofer paying me $10,000 more a year than what I was making plus full benefits that I really needed. I stayed focus ,kept the faith and my new year is getting off to a good start. Don't give up , trust in your resume, make sure you update it and take every interview you can. It can happen for anyone if you believe in yourself.

Blessed
I had my heart set on getting my old job back after giving them six good years and working really hard for them. During that time, I attempted multiple times to get promoted and got nowhere. They decided not to let me come back which crushed me because I had worked so hard for them. Now I am feeling blessed because I have found a better job and I am starting in a lead position because of the experience I have from my old job. I wanted to share this to let others know that if we don't get the job we have our hearts set on, it may be because God has other plans for us and we need to trust in him and understand that it is his will that will be done in our lives.

Something to think about!
I'm not sure if anyone else here has the same history, but I have never had to fill out a job application my entire life. I always had my own small business or legitimate hustle and someone came along with an offer of employment. One of the things that cause me to seek a job at this point is steady income and insurance benefits. If I do find suitable employment I will always continue to do other things, as working for someone else is not guaranteed to last forever. I'm sure you can relate well to these words, if you are reading this message in this space. Far too many people rely solely on a job to survive. I hope this advice does not discourage anyone from seeking employment, but instead encourage everyone to maintain a sense of independence. I feel this is a quality that employers should like and value in a potential job candidate.

Getting frustrated
How does one find permanent employment these days that isn’t call center based?
I graduated college in the mid 90s with two useless bachelors degrees and immediately began office jobs. I then moved into insurance claims which I made good money doing. Unfortunately I became horrifically ill, had to go on long term medical leave and eventually lost my job.
After almost 2 years out of work, I found a temp job doing outbound calls for a call center and quickly moved up the ranks to team leader. Then they moved to another part of the country and I was unable to relocate.
This was 5 years ago and I have been unable to find permanent non-call center work since. I hate working in call centers where my every move is micromanaged like I’m a toddler and I went from being salaried at $50K a year to making $13 an hour with no benefits and can’t seem to break this cycle.
How does one find permanent, non call center work in 2019?

I Need Advice
So I need anyone's opinion on this. I have two jobs lined up one I started this week and the other I'm supposed to start on December 2nd if I dont like the first one. I have an extensive background in Mechanical ,Troubleshooting and Maintenance
The first one is pretty much Repairing grocery carts and Equipment inside of a Retail store at 19 an hour with a company truck and a company phone. My previous experience overpasses this job by far but its income.
The second one is a Commercial Roofing company and they want me to be an advisor for them at 50k a year with a Company phone and a Company car paid training for a week in another state but the only issue I feel like this one has is they dont pay for expenses till after 1 year of employment as far as food goes.
I'm stuck in a rut I keep looking for work seeing if something better comes along. #joboffers
