What I loved about working at #Holiday Inn MKCPK It was like family the work was not always easy but I always had my work family to lean on.

One thing I would have loved to have at #Holiday Inn was
Better communication then indirect communication

I am thinking about YOUR family
Sometimes it's easy to forget that Memorial Day weekend isn't just about picnics and the unofficial start to summer. It's about loss and honoring those losses.
My heart goes out this coming long weekend (and always) to families and friends who have lost loved ones while they served. I am thinking of you while also remembering my Uncle who I lost several years ago.
...and to all those who serve, thank you.
Who will YOU remember this Memorial Day?

To all of the moms out there...
Dear Moms,
I know this is an INSANE time for you. I know this because I am a mom myself. My baby is 20 months old. I love her more than anything in the world, but being a mother is HARD.
So make sure to take some time for yourself this weekend and any old time. Mother's Day isn't just this Sunday, it's every day whether it's a holiday or not. : )
...and in case you forgot
YOU are a superhero and YOU are doing an amazing job!!
What has been your toughest mom moment this past year?
For me, it's been keeping her occupied without screen time while I get my work done! Oh yeah and that one time we thought she might have swallowed a penny haha.

New Year's Eve traditions - what are yours??
This year, New Year’s Eve celebrations are going to be looking quite different. I recently read an article about fascinating NYE traditions from around the world, and I wanted to share with you! What are YOUR New Year’s Eve traditions? Comment below!
Japan: Eat toshikoshi soba
To commemorate New Year’s Eve, people in Japan eat toshikoshi soba. This symbolizes having a long and fortunate life along with a clean break from the year.Denmark: Jump off a chair
In Denmark, you JUMP right into the new year! Just before midnight, stop what you’re doing and get on a chair and jump just like the Danes. If you forget to jump, it’s said that you’ll bring bad luck for the following year, so set your reminder!Spain: Eat 12 grapes
In Spain, people eat grapes for good luck. To carry out this tradition, eat 12 grapes, known as las doce uvas de la suerte, handy. When the clock chimes at midnight, eat one with each clang.Costa Rica: Run your suitcase around the block
The tradition is popular across Latin America. At midnight, grab a suitcase and run around the block in the hopes of traveling in the new year!Greece: Hang some onions
In Greece, onions symbolize rebirth, so people hang them up on their doors to encourage a year of growth and prosperity.Ecuador: Burn effigies
In Ecuador people head outside to burn effigies (sculptures that represent a person or idea) that symbolize the year. By lighting the effigy on fire, you’re letting the bad energy and memories of the year go and moving onto the next.Russia: Burn... then sip your wishes
For this Russian tradition, write down your wishes for 2021 on a piece of paper just before midnight, then light the paper on fire. Once it’s stopped burning, sprinkle the wish-filled ashes into a glass of champagne and drink up after the clock strikes midnight!!

Have you ever worked a job that was busiest around the holidays?
I found this video of a worker creating a holiday item by bending steel wire (any guesses for what it will be)? It got me thinking that the busiest I've ever been at work was when I was waiting tables during a Mother's Day brunch. I don't think I stopped moving for 10 hours that day. Have you ever worked or are working in a position that is always busy during the holiday season?

Retail - Kohl’s ... loved the busy time plus great employer and they had special days to treat employees - days passed faster.

Anyone working on the 4th?
My parents ran a restaurant in the little town I grew up in and every 4th of July we opened up the porch to sell fried dough, hamburgers, hotdogs and french fries before the parade started.
It was always so HOT and the work was tough, but looking back I wouldn’t have traded those moments with my family for the world.
Has anyone else worked on the 4th of July or is working this year?

Good Morning Community,
Happy Valentine's Day to each of you! As we begin this Special Day many people celebrate in a romantic way. However, today let's take a look at this day in another way. Valentine's Day is a day I celebrate for the love of my job. As I started my day I give thanks to another day on this human planet, next I show my children the love I have for them. Now that is out of the way, I continue to work on making it a better day in the workplace. Greeting people is a good way to start. Although sometimes easier said then done. When was the last time you said Good Morning, afternoon to a coworker? Maybe hold a door for someone? Acts of kindness is a part I display on a daily basis. It doesn’t take much to let someone know they can do it too? I also love being able to help people in the workplace succeed. This is how I can make my day a better one too. Valentines Day is a great way to show appreciation for the simple things in life. Taking the time to appreciate what we have and can offer in the world helps make this world a better place. As the year continues we tend to fall into our old habits of whatever? It takes only a minute to change if just practiced? What changes have you made when applying for a job? Have you refreshed your resumes? Your ideas, thoughts on obtaining a job? Maybe changing jobs or career? Why not start today by taking the time to revisit these things? Make a Plan of Action and most importantly put it into Action! Over the past week I have been to Meetings, Events, Community Organizations teaching people How they can make Changes in there life to better oneself and you can too! One of things I enjoy about being a Delegate is the fact I get to meet new people each day. From Fall River, New Bedford, Quincy, Plymouth, Brockton, Boston, Cape Cod, Falmouth, Taunton, Dartmouth, Somerset, Swansea, and today I’m off to Falmouth Massachusetts! Meeting and Greeting people, listening to there concerns regarding the workplace issues we face on a daily basis. This allows me to share with you the things that matter most in our workplace. It also allows me to learn what is taking place in our jobs today. Over the next couple of weeks I will begin topics that matter most to people like me and you! I appreciate any and all feedback you provide on any and all topics I write about! Remember to take a minute to like, share or comment to let me know your thoughts? Happy Valentines Day to each of you!

Love, love, love!
Every year Valentine's Day reminds me of two things.
1- Those really sappy Hallmark cards and 2- those conversation candies with the messages stamped on top. Remember those? I think they are secretly made out of chalk : )
Of course, the purpose of the holiday is a reminder to celebrate love and it got me thinking...
Have you ever had a past job or a boss that you REALLY loved?
For me, it was when I was a teacher in a small elementary school in Connecticut. The principal not only loved her job, but she shared that joy with every child, parent, and teacher she met. I once watched her dress up as a Polar bear (the school mascot) on the first day of school to welcome the students back. She stood outside in a furry bear suit in the 98-degree heat that day waving, and she never once complained.
I loved that job because I had a fantastic leader who everyone wanted to surround themselves with.
Now it's your turn to share. : )
What was a job or boss you loved and why?
What made them special?
Yes! I worked at restaurants as a server to pay for college and pretty much ANY holiday was busier than it normally would be. I never worked Christmas, but Christmas Eve was always packed!
