My colleagues push me to work harder and more efficiently. I have a wonderful time meeting new people despite being considered an introvert. The managers are amazing, empathic people and the sense of togetherness between staff is one reason I look forward coming into work.

So, I finally had it with the eternal and fruitless job search. Finally sick of the non-responses, the age discrimination, the scam job ads, the whole ugly thing. I decided to take back control of my situation and figure out a way to begin my own business and I have. Ah.... the freedom that comes from being your own boss is worth all the trials and bumps and bruises that come at the start of it.
I thought about what I can do that other people want and/or need and I came up with a few things actually. I can write, I can translate and I can teach English as a Second Language (ESL). So I went with the ESL because that seemed to be where the greatest demand was. So now I am teaching online ESL classes via Skype and voila! I have my own business and I feel very hopeful about the future again.
So I would suggest to anyone having a great deal of difficulty finding work, for whatever reason, that rather than get utterly frustrated and discouraged, try to think of something you are able to do that could make you money and get it started. Yes, it is hard work, but definitely worth it. Ah.... the freedom.
