“Have you ever exhausted your FMLA leave, and if so, did your employer initiate or offer additional leave under the ADA as a reasonable accommodation?”

FMLA

I have an interesting situation with FMLA. I had to randomly use “Stop Work Authority” on April 16th, 2025 because of severe back pain from a semi-truck hitting me in August of 2023. I’ve already received epidural injections and spine surgery. So now I’m scheduled for another surgery on 6/11/2025 to implant a spine stimulator to mitigate the pain. ✅

I’ve been on FMLA since April 16th and my FMLA is protecting my job for up to 12 weeks. My recovery will extend past my FMLA jeopardizing my career as a fuel tank driver. I may fall under the ADA act, but I will see once I get closer to my return date to work on July 12th. ✅

I’m in Los Angeles and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with FMLA since this is my first time on FMLA. 🤔

Unemployment

I recently had a stroke in June-2020... My job told me to do FMLA. I thought I was going to get paid while on FMLA. They inbox me and stated this is a non pay FMLA. I was then instructed to file unemployment by payroll. Unemployment does Not want to pay me because my job says I'm still working full-time. I have been on hold for almost 15 weeks to get an appeal and to have a hearing with a judge. I don't even get disability or short term disability. I have been suffering with no help. I have written two appeals letters and still no results but the comment that they are behind schedule due to the pandemic! Does anyone have any insight on this subject will I get paid or not! Situation is stressful with 3 kids and no home #fmla

Feeling Lost

My boss asked me to meet with his HR advisor for a "discussion" the day before I was supposed to return to work from FMLA leave. During our meeting, the HR Advisor let me know that my boss has asked him to let me know that he would like me to submit a voluntary resignationas I had missed too much work (2 weeks). He felt that a voluntary resignation would help us "part ways on good terms".

I was caught by surprise of his request because he has given me several promotions during my tenure there and was always satisfied with my work performance. I am feeling uncertain on how I should handle this. Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Totally discouraged!

I was at a job that I was doing pretty well at up until the point where I caught the flu and was hospitalized due to complications from the flu. I was told that I could not lose my job for being sick. Upon my arrival back to work, they had put my FMLA papers through but by this time I had no more sick time or personal time left to take off because I was hospitalized for a month. I still haven't fully recovered, so I did what I felt was the right thing and I put in my two weeks notice so that I could take the time I needed to fully recover. It has been a year since I left this job, on good terms mind you, and I have been having a hard time finding work since my recovery. I recently reached out to HR at my old job, see that I left there on good terms. They are hiring like crazy right now and all over all of the online Career sites looking for applicants. I asked if I could come back, Not only was I blown off for about a week, I was denied rehire due to my attendance at work when the time that I had missed was clearly due to me being sick and hospitalized! At this point I'm so discouraged I just want to give up.

Jobeless is it illegal??

Soo I have been employed by the same company since October of 2018... I never missed a day of work or was late. I ALWAYS went above and beyond. I told the gm I needed time of in June (this was November) she ended up quitting/getting fired not sure which, anyway I remind the owner about a month ago at our weekly meetings that I needed the time off he helped me to have someone fill as far as I knew everything was fine. I talked to him on Tuesday asking if I could spread my acquired sick time over the next few weeks I had time off so I atleast had something coming in he said sure when are u returning to work? I said be there Thursday the 4th but unfortunately in court they changed some days I already had off and covered, I sent him the new days... he said I’ll meet you Thursday when u come in. I get there the woman I originally notified in November of the time I Needed off was there and told me she was taking over the store and when I asked why? The owner said I did nothing wrong... no hard feelings, I was told I’m just looking for something different.... is this legal? Do I loose sick time that takes me 40 hrs to make 1 sick time hr?? Really?? Any recourse besides just collecting?

Seeking Work from Home

I am 35 years old, and recently had a baby. My previous job does not have great work/life balance, and would have me out the house 24/7, on call. I have a master's degree from OSU and have great employment history. I all currently on FMLA while I care for my son, and scheduled to return to work soon. I am trying to find either a work from home job, or a job where I can bring my son with me.

I have a long professional career, I am efficient in all office type work, great with Microsoft Office. My work experience includes, but is not limited to: recruitment, life skills coaching, interviewing and assessment skills, customer service, supervisory skills, money handling, bartending and customer service. I am a great worker and can provide references.

I am open to almost any kind of work, flexibility is more important. I am very adaptable and catch on quickly to new skills. I plan on making this my permanent job, and do not wish to return to my previous work.

I will provide resume on request Please any help

FMLA

I had FMLA in place at my last job. Should I wait to be hired to bring this up, or should I state this in interviews? I feel withholding this information is somehow wrong! My last Job everyone had 30-minutes for lunch. My lunch had to be an hour sometimes a little longer, this also covered occasional appointments.
