Making #connections is a crucial part of building your network and accelerating your career!

When pursuing his studies, Dovas realized how important it truly is.

Create long-term relationships with mutual benefits! Here are some reasons why cultivating #connections and networking should be an essential aspect if you truly want to build your career:

  • When you stand out in both your expertise and the services you offer, it creates room for partnership which in turn builds a career.

  • When people start noticing you, it opens the door for newer opportunities.

  • Even the simplest interaction with one person can transform a year-long research work and result in a breakthrough.

What are useful job search or career development topics?

I met with a large staffing company based out of Charlotte today and they're doing some pretty cool things!

One of which is developing mini-workshops and learning materials to address topics that are important to employees in either their job search or their career development.

They've hosted hands-on workshops on resume writing and another mini leadership course for employees being promoted into supervisor roles for the first time in their careers - a great start!

What other topics would be helpful for a company to address?

What moves you...literally?!?!

In warehouse, retail and food service, many of the jobs are very similar and the challenges the same (scheduling, working with customers, completing repetitive tasks, etc.). What motivates you to make a move? Reputation, brand, incrementally better pay, something else? So many of our employer partners are asking, sometimes begging for the solution that will fill their open roles. How can they get you to move?

1 page Resumes Maybe Enough

A resume more than 2 pages is too much. A resume is meant for relevant work history for jobs you are applying for. Of course there are exceptions - like a federal or military resume. Those are set to a specific criteria that had to be followed for document review.

Think strengths, growth and relevance for an outstanding resume. #gapsinresume #resources #resumewriting #careerchange #careerdevelopment
