How to talk about CONFLICT in a Job Interview

Just when you’re starting to settle into the #interview, the hiring team asks you, “Tell us about a time you had conflict in the workplace.” 😳

This one is TOUGH! Here are some tips to consider when answering this question: 👉 Everyone has conflict at work - it doesn’t mean a “fight” necessarily - it can be as simple as a disagreement on how to approach a problem. 👉 Own up to your role in the conflict. No one likes a finger-pointer! 👉 Set the stage clearly as to the background for the issue, what was the disagreement, and ultimately if/how it was resolved. 👉 Be sure to end your answer with lessons learned and what you’d do differently next time!

How to answer “Why do you want this job?”

Believe it or not, your motivation for applying for a job can make a big difference on your success in a recruitment process.

Companies want to hire people who truly want to work for them!

And this means having reasons beyond your own basic needs, like pay, commute time, or schedule. Don’t get me wrong, those things are very important, but they typically are important to everyone so they do not set you apart from every other candidate.

Here are 4 tips to answer this interview question really well and stand out from the crowd 🙌

5 Great Questions to Ask at the End of a Job Interview

You know when you get to the end of your #interview and the hiring manager asks you, “Do you have any questions for us?” Do you return that with a blank stare 😳 or a “Thanks so much, I don’t have any questions.”?

Asking questions at the end of a job interview DOES make an impression on the hiring team. It can reflect on your interest and enthusiasm for the position, your thoughtfulness and preparedness, and your willingness to take on new challenges (to name a few!).

So, I recommend always preparing some potential questions you can ask at the end of every job interview 🙌

Before you check out 5 questions I love for the end of an interview, here are some tips: 👉 I don’t necessarily recommend asking ALL 5 of these. Pick 2-3 that resonate with you. 👉 Never ask questions just for the sake of it. Prepare questions that you legitimately want to know the answer to! 👉 Ask questions in your own style and language - you don’t need to memorize these word for word, especially if they wouldn’t feel natural to you. 👉 These questions are particularly suited for professional jobs but could be tailored to many other opportunities, even entry level 👍 👉 Lastly (take heart!), you CAN write your questions down and bring them into the interview room with you. You don’t need to memorize everything you wanted to ask 😁

Good luck 🍀 Check out my video below and follow me on TikTok and Jobcase for more career advice 💫 #jobsearch #careeradvice #interviewtips #interviewquestions

If If Can Wait Until 8 PM, It Can Wait Until 8 AM

We've all been there.

We made a promise to a client or boss that a deliverable would go out at a certain time, but life happened and now it's past end of day and you're still not done.

What do you do?

If you would've asked me a few years ago, I would've said to put your nose to the grindstone and pull out all the stops you need to in order to get it over the line. And for some pieces of work this may be necessary.

However, one of the most valuable lessons I've learned is that if it can wait until 8 PM, it can wait until 8 AM. What this means is you're better off taking that time to recharge and attack the task the next morning, then burn yourself out delivering something that likely won't be looked at until lunchtime anyways.

Remember THIS the next time you head into a job interview!

This is a little friendly reminder to help improve your confidence and awareness heading into your next job #interview !

You are being interviewed by the hiring company, yes. AND YOU ARE INTERVIEWING THEM, TOO!

Candidates often forget that their decision to join a new company and take a new job can be a big deal. You want to be sure the fit is right on both sides to ensure long term success and happiness at work. Every job interview should feel like and BE a 2-way experience with opportunities to interact with employees, ask questions, and get to know the company. #jobsearch #careeradvice #motivation

Job Search

Hi! I am 59 years old, and searching for work in the Sacramento, CA. area. I recently re-located from San Jose because my Fiancé wanted to remain close to her family. Her mother just purchased a home in Fair Oaks. I have background in many areas, yet REALLY desire to upgrade my Autocad skills, actually desire Solidworks training. My issue with this is that I still owe for student loans from many years ago, and am unable to obtain financial aid as a result. I have worked in engineering for many years as an Autocad Drafter, yet it has been over 20 years since working in that capacity. Any assistance and positive suggestions are appreciated #jobsearch #careeradvice
