Startups are NOT just a young persons game

I hate ageism. It’s unfounded by data. It is wrong. And it is especially wrong for an era marked by the powerful combo of lifespans expanding & opportunities expanding.
Are you older? If so - THIS IS A PERFECT TIME to start a company.

How do know if your about to be fired?

I never feel like I do or am good enough.. I always feel like I am not liked. I want to be a part of a team but I lack confidence. I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and some days I struggle and some days I am fine… I care too much and wish I could just relax… be more positive and joke around with my co-workers. I am constantly on edge, wondering when I will get fired. Does anyone have any suggestions. I love my job. I love the people I work with. I am so grateful to be a receptionist and to work with animals. All I want to do is make an impact positively on the animals I meet, with the patients I see, and my team that I care for.

Tell me you’ve worked in a restaurant

Without telling me you’ve worked in a restaurant. I’ll go first, “86 the shrimp!”

Ageism and discrimination? It's real. So what are your stories and solutions?

Age discrimination is a problem. New findings reveal ageism persists in the workplace, and more working women than men experience ageism. It’s gotten so bad, the House of Representatives passed a bill to protect older Americans in just the last week.

What are your stories, experiences, and how can we find new solutions to this problem? #ageism #motivation

I had to walk away from a ten year career in home health I was tired of being discriminated because of age and race If I could record those conversations they would be in question I have been gas lighted more times then I can count i am not believed or valued I look younger then my years so when they figure i am older then its applied I cant keep up or I cant do the job or I cant handle the responsibilities because they are out college and I passed we are older forgotten treated with no respect we have no voice we are not seen we are just forgotten its better to walk away from a system that is broken we are left to retire and be seen anymore we are pushed out and pushed way We have the wisdom and knowledge but we are just seen as old which to me age should be full of grace

I didn't put my year that i graduated on my resume and my work history only goes back 10 years, but NOBODY hires off a resume alone! Upon submitting a resume, you are also required to fill out an application which first questions after the basic name, address, city, state, zip, etc., is what is your d.o.b. and what year did you graduate from high school. The application clearly states, any items left unanswered or blank will deem the application incomplete. So, to those of you who say you can get hired by simply submitting a resume are incorrect. I also worked for HR and and application is required per Department of Labor for every person applying for any position. There has to be documentation.

Crazy customer stories - Have you had to deal with something like this?

Saw this news piece today hit the wire that someone decided it would be a good idea to call in a bomb threat because they didn't get their dipping sauces with the McNuggets meal.

Working a job that has you in contact with the general public can lead to some confrontations with crazy customers. What's the craziest situation you've had to deal with and how did you handle the situation?
