I made very good money as a waitress of two jobs for 20 years. Bartending was always the best of course. I averaged $30 an hour. I was the bread winner for my family for the past 5 years. I am no longer employed nor will I be asked to go back to those jobs since they were ma and pa restaurants and the owners serve, not the past staff, just so they don’t loose their business. I understand. But....I don’t have a college education nor tech/computer training/experience to get me a job that I can do from home since now I have to help my kids with their stay at home online schooling that’s been forced upon us as parents. I understand So what do we do? Unemployment will run out and my waitressing career is down the tubes. Sink or swim... I’m going back to school which is all online at home and using my arched nemesis, computers and technology, that will help me get a degree in Accounting so that I can get somewhere in life again. Praying for all the restaurant industry peeps out there that are hungry, about to be homeless due to not being able to collect unemployment: find a way to Renew and reinvent yourself, do NOT give up. I am so scared to try something new because I don’t learn well nor have I ever taken tests well, and I can’t imagine sitting at a desk for 8 hours. I loved what I did as a waitress, I loved the energy of people and being able to talk freely and exercise (walk, stretch, literally run at times,) and see regulars and build upon those relationships. This is a very difficult time for us and know you are not alone. I see you #server #laidoffindefinitely #foodservices #tips

Help!! They shut my job DOWN!!!!

I am a server at a local place in my town and now they are shutting down all the restaurants in the area because of the virus. Can I collect? What the hell am I going to do now?? I walk there so I can't find someplace else to go without a car. I am SO screwed.

The biggest mistake I made as a #Server/Runner/Busser at #PalmettoPizzaandSubs ...

My biggest mistake while working at Palmetto was, that I waited too long to open myself up and use my imagination while fixing orders
