I think there comes a point in everyone's career where you are either UNHAPPY or you just want more!!
...and there is NOTHING wrong with that. Why? Well because there are better career options AND salaries out there. You should never feel stuck in one place!
So how do you go about getting one of these great jobs?
Focus on your career goals
Before searching for jobs, you need to determine your career goals. The first thing is to identify which type of career you are looking for. What do you really want?
Take time to jot down your work experience, qualifications, and skills. Based on these, look for the positions in your desired field or job industry. Match positions that you are closely qualified for but don't be afraid to go for those that aren't a 100% match too!
Get your story straight
Take the time to recreate and rehearse your 30-60 second elevator pitch until it is delivered straight from your voice and doesn’t sound rehearsed. Beef it up with buzz words for the job that you want. Essentially tell them about you, but more importantly about why YOU are a good fit for THEM and how they can benefit!
Spend the extra time
It will benefit you tremendously if you take the time time to personalize your resume and cover letter as you apply to each position. Why send out the same one to every job? The employer will know when you've tailored yours to meet their application and appreciate you for it. They will also know if yours is generic and simply skip right over it.
Remember that your resume is your only representation in the primary screening process. It is the FIRST thing a hiring manager will see and they will only scan it for a few seconds and make their decision to select you or not based on those few seconds, so make it count!
