EXPLORING NEW JOB OPTIONS
I've been seeing a lot of posts from the Jobcase community looking for insight into a potential new career path and how to get started.
Before seeking help from the community, it's extremely important to make sure your Jobcase profile is completely filled out. This will allow us to get a better sense of your experience and skills set so that we can make the best possible recommendations!
When it comes to discovering new jobs, try searching the #careerdiscovery hashtag on Jobcase. This topic focuses on discovering new career paths and jobs, and providing resources to help you transition.
Consider certifications for new opportunities, such as brushing up with Adult Basic Ed, learning with short-term training, preparing with Jobs Corps, and/or pursuing an apprenticeship.
Lastly, taking a self-assessment on your interests will help you learn more about yourself so that you can find a job that is a perfect match. Jobcase provides this self-assessment tool to help identify your strengths, values and goals!

A career mentor once ask me "what is the point of going through an interview, if you don’t get to ask questions of your own?". Her point of view was that sometimes asking the interviewer questions about:
- Company culture
- Team dynamics
- Manager benchmarks
DURING the interview is the only time you’ll get the chance to know if you truly want the job before the job is offered to you, because you get to compare your expectations with reality. From there you can make a decision on whether you liked the environment described or not. Remember, it’s not just the company making a decision here, you are too.
