Five key traits that retailers are looking for in an employee

I was in retail for almost 20 years, 15 of them were spent as a store manager. Here are a few traits I'd look for in an employee:

Reliability: Managers want to know that you will show up on time and ready to work. This is especially important for seasonal workers since the holiday season is often both the most profitable and hectic time of year for retailers.

Relatability: To succeed in retail, you need a combination of sales skills and soft skills. Most of the former can be taught. What I can’t teach you is how to be relatable. To excel as a salesperson, you have to be able to put yourself in your customer’s shoes and show genuine empathy for each of their individual situations. When you understand and value your customer’s needs, you build trust, and trust is the bedrock of customer loyalty. The best brand ambassadors and salespeople know how to make a customer feel validated and valued.

Meticulousness: As a hiring manager, I love detail-oriented people. These are the team members who are going to learn the inventory inside and out, follow best practices to the letter, and make sure our displays are always on point.

Ability to multitask: Retail often requires you to meet customer expectations while processing freight, running numbers, or changing displays. Poor multitaskers rarely succeed in retail.

Grace under pressure: Sometimes the amount of multitasking retail requires can make you feel like you’re working in a pressure cooker. I need to be confident that you won’t “boil over” by being rude to a customer or coworker or storming out, both of which reflect poorly on the brand. #retail #customerservice

Hi! My names Brenda and I'm a mommy (and daddy) of 2 little boys, 6 &2. The current job I have now is at Weis Markets and have worked there for over a year but i have experience in 10+ years as a cashier/customer service associate! I want to find a job where I can possibly work up the ladder. I love being a cashier. I am a people person and a people pleaser! I'm also a very hard worker as you can see since I'm the only parent of two boys LOL! #hardworker #cashier #customerservice #retail

Customer Service educate customers without selling

One of my favorite parts of working in customer service was being in a position where I could teach a customer something about the product without having to sell them on the solution.

WHAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE TO YOU ?

In a world where customer service is the fore front of every business, I feel that it is important to really understand what customer service really is . To me customer service is about providing a great customer expierence. If you think about it, as a customer most times it's not just the product that keeps you going back to your favorite brand , its the expierence you have with the brand. Did they meet all of your needs, did they provide great support, was the staff friendly , did you enjoy your EXPIERENCE when you visited last? So to me, when I am providing customer service, I try to ensure that the customer has a great expierence so that they contuine to frequent the business.

What is customer service to you? #customer #customerservice #renti #wordsofadvice #retention

Looking for work

I lost my previous position of nearly four years in January. Currently I am not receiving any kind of unemployment benefits, and will soon be in financial straits because of this. Due to health issues, I cannot work in an office any longer, and am looking for work from home options. My experience is in customer service, specifically in data entry as well as supervisory experience. My previous position was in a call center environment for a medical answering service that created, updated and entered patient information. We also scheduled appointments as well as notifying of messages from clinic staff. I've sent out I don't know how many resumes, but the only responses have either been rejections or outright silence. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. #jobsearch #workfromhome #customerservice #advice

Tips for good customer service

Anyone interested in the customer service field should remember these 3 tips! Professionalism Patience People-first” attitude

Always remember that customers come first & its your job to make them feel welcome & happy to be in your store. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a store & the associate would act so rude & just give off an attitude they'd rather be anywhere else but there. Good customer service is a key to good selling! #wordsofadvice #customerservice
