IBM has launched a "New Collar" Professional Certificate program on Coursera as a response to their identified skills gap.

According to their site:

"New collar jobs and training initiatives address the tech industry’s skills gap and create multiple pathways for people to land these jobs.

These aren’t “blue collar” or “white collar” jobs, they’re...“new collar” roles in technology that prioritize skills and capabilities over degrees or having a traditional career path. What matters most in these roles is having the right mix of skills and a commitment to lifelong learning."

These roles are in some of the technology's fastest growing fields. Learn more abut IBM's New Collar Professional Certificates.

I've had my moments of failure. And I learned that failure is supposed to be an open door. That failure is needed. It is wise. It teaches us everything we need to do and do it better. There is no learning process without failure. There is no success without it. Might be hard to believe given that failure is so painful. Sometimes it tastes like a punch in the stomach. Always the same bitter. Always the same feeling afterward.

I have learned that failure is sooner or later unavoidable

Failure does have a negative impact on our brain which provokes an explicit rejection of it which results in anxiety, demotivation and lack of confidence. From my personal experience, I know that failure can be positive. I've accepted it. I believe it. I like everyone else would like to avoid it and just succeed.

So when you find yourself at the bottom because of a failure, how do you stand up to it and go to the bright side of it with a positive learning experience?

Acknowledge and understand failure

Acknowledge that you have failed and your role on this failure Baic. Hurtful but it's entirely human to look for alternative realities where you feel the universe plots against you and your success, despite your hard work and effort. Things happens to us. Not a good start per se, but you can not improve what you don't acknowledge.

Analyze the objective reasons that makes you fail To start the healing process, it is fundamental to be honest with yourself, to dig deep into the failure and identify the cause of it. Maybe it was not the right process? Maybe it was not the right time? This is where you transform your "maybes" into explicit judgements. Become aware

After you've started the healing process, you can overcome the negative emotions and restore your self confidence

Acknowledge who you areand what you want out of life You might want to ask yourself if you should care that much, should you try again. How is this failure related to my mission in life. How does this failure impact my priorities? What is my position within this failure? Who am I and how do I want this failure to affect my life?

Acknowledge what you have accomplished thus far You are GOOD You are CAPABLE You only discovered one new way that won't work but you have accomplished much so far. Make a list of your considered successes and keep it positive. Accept that being good does not mean to be perfect. Stay humble. See life in perspective. Attach your strengths

Acknowledge the fears and obstacles that you have overcome Going through the experience of pain of failure is the proof that you have overcome the fear of failure. You have taken action. You have chosen. The second time will get easier. I promise you. And that's when the final goals are much closer.

Learn the lesson and acknowledge that now you are better prepared than ever Do what you have to do to avoid what you need to avoid. Change what needs to be changed. The important thing is to ensure the pain is transformed into a positive lesson. It can make you wiser. Choose wiser!

Acknowledge that no failure will finish you Anyone who believes when they fail, it's the end of the world. It does you no good. When you learn from your mistakes, it helps you to remain strong and determined.

So when you find yourself down, I hope you get back up!

I have failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed (Michael Jordan)
