Denied a Job Because Checkr Reported the Wrong Criminal Record?

We have talked to people who were denied jobs because Checkr reported a criminal record that was not theirs. Sometimes it is a mixed file. Sometimes it is someone with a similar name. Either way, the applicant can lose a real opportunity over information that never should have been attached to them in the first place.

What makes it worse is that many people do not find out right away. They just get rejected or ghosted after the background check stage, leaving them wondering what happened.

If a background report was wrong, that is not a small mistake. It can affect your job, your income, and your peace of mind. That is why it is so important not to automatically assume the rejection was your fault.

If this ever happens, save the emails, keep the job posting, and review any background check notices you received. It may be worth requesting a copy of the report and checking every detail.

For a clearer explanation of how criminal background check errors happen and why they can cost people jobs, this article by consumer protection attorney and Consumer Attorneys PLLC founder Daniel Cohen is genuinely worth reading: https://consumerattorneys.com/article/criminal-background-check #backgroundcheck #termination #interview #advice #jobsearch

Diesel tech student…

I’m a diesel technology student in Nashville, and I am trying to find a job in that field or in a shop but am having a hard time , it’s discouraging. I don’t have any practical experience, other than school. I’m not sure how to go about finding a shop or a place that would be willing to give a lady a chance. I’m more than willing to learn! # #jobsearch # #education # #advice

How would you respond if the interviewer said "You don't check all the boxes we were looking for — why should we still consider you?"

I'd tell them for negotiating purposes. Don't be scared to play both sides of the fence. You'll come out financially better for it.

Job Application Rejected by an AI Tool. What If the Background Check Is Wrong?

More companies are now using AI tools and automated screening in hiring. That means decisions can happen quickly, sometimes before you ever get a real chance to explain anything. The problem is that if the information used is wrong, that mistake can cost someone a job.

We have seen cases where background reports included the wrong criminal record, outdated employment information, incorrect dates, or details that did not even belong to the applicant. And in many situations, the applicant does not even know that the bad information was part of the decision. They are just left wondering what went wrong.

People walk away thinking they were not qualified when, in fact, a report or screening tool may have made a mistake behind the scenes.

If you ever get rejected from a job and something about it does not feel right, it may be worth taking a closer look. Save the emails. Keep the job posting. Look at any messages from background check companies. If a report was used, you may have the right to get a copy of it and dispute mistakes.

A lot of people do not realize that job screening errors are real until it happens to them. We described the most common background check errors here: https://consumerattorneys.com/practice-area/employment-background-check-errors

Has anyone here ever had a job rejection that felt sudden or did not make sense, and later found out there was a background check or screening issue involved? #backgroundcheck #jobsearch #recruiting #advice #interview #application #hr
