Welcome to the Jobcase resource center for unemployment in Texas. If you are here, you are probably trying to figure out your unemployment benefits to keep you afloat during this challenging time. Applying for unemployment benefits can be complicated, so we put together these resources to help you navigate.

What is it called?

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) runs the state's Unemployment Benefit Services program.

Online

The fastest way to apply for benefits is online. You can file or check the status of your claim herel. It’s suggested to try filing between 10PM - 8AM when the volume of applicants is lower.

By Phone

You can also apply for benefits or get help with your application by calling a Tele-Center at 800-939-6631. The Tele-Center hours are 8AM - 6PM, Monday – Friday. Please follow the call-in schedule below:

Info you need to apply

To apply for unemployment, you need to provide personal information including:

  • Social Security number
  • Birth date
  • Texas driver license or Texas Identification Card number, if you have one
  • Home address
  • Email address (optional)
  • Phone number
  • Last employer's business name and address
  • First and last dates (month, day and year) you worked for your last employer
  • Number of hours worked and pay rate if you worked this week (including Sunday)
  • Information related to your normal wage
  • If you are not a U.S. citizen — your Alien Registration number
  • If you’re in a union — your union name and local number
  • To receive payments by direct deposit, you’ll also need your bank name, account number, and routing number.
