What is it called?

The South Dakota Department of Labor & Regulation runs the state’s Reemployment Assistance (RA) program (formerly Unemployment Insurance).

Submit an initial claim here to determine if your circumstances meet the eligibility requirements of the RA program. Filing online is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can also file for unemployment benefits or get help with your application by calling the TeleClaim Center. Contact them at (605)-626-3179 between 8AM - 4:20PM.

A new "last name" filing system has been implemented for claimants who want to file by telephone. Based on the first letter of their last name, claimants should file by phone on the day assigned to their last names:

If you missed your day, you can file Thursday or Friday.
